For one rare moment I can be proud of an American company, in how they operate overseas, defending basic inalienable rights, such quaint aspirations like "life, liberty, pursuit of happiness..." However late in its coming, even "justice delayed" can be sweet.

The Chinese people on the mainland deserve the right to self rule, choose their own political parties, access information freely, form their own opinions, speak their mind freely and vote. Only then will there be a legitimate Government on the mainland. There is no legitimacy in dictatorship.

Reported eyewitness sitings of landing by team of flying reindeer led by one younger fawn in the front with red nose - possibly a DWI infraction - in Aqua City. Drivers speeding across Rainbow Bridge stunned by sight of portly elderly man in red snow suit with big bag slung over shoulder makes hypersonic aeronautical history in gravity defying sleigh, zooming underneath the bridge in record time. Children of all ages delighted. People with bad attitudes given lumps of coal. More to follow over next 24 hours!

Chavez' thugocracy continues along its path toward dictatorship to the applause of enablers. Hitler too was elected, to bring national socialism to the oppressed. No one learns, none of this is new.

what some prefer to call a mere 'procedure' to eliminate an 'inconvenience', is most accurately called infanticide.

Posted in: Should foreign residents have local voting rights? See in context

No. In the USA this would be regarded as a proposal by the loony-left.

The right to vote is one of the highest privileges of citizenship.

If you live in Japan as a guest, a permanent resident, tourist, whatever: you probably have the right to cast your vote in your home country (unless you are from a dictatorship/one-party state) by absentee ballot. Do that. Or, renounce your citizenship and take the long hard road to apply to become a citizen of the country that you choose - and one that will in turn accept you.

Allowing foreigners to vote in Japan sounded like some sort of insanity - then I found that its actually part of the party platform of the DPJ. So be it, if that's what they want. But to me, its just plain nutty.

Kind regards, Joe Q.

President Obama has taken a solemn oath to uphold the US Constitution, of which the following remains a key component: "the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." Keep up the good work, sir!

as america becomes more communistic, with private enterpise succumbing to an every larger government role in GDP... expected to rise over 45-50% of GDP in 2 years time, china needs to be strongly encouraged, pressed, cajoled, shamed into, becoming more democratic, 9real democracy with multi-parties formed freely, dems, repubs, greenies, agries, whatever) but that will only come with a new revolution, one we can only hope will be peacefull and relfective of what america seems to be losing: right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. maybe our / us's loss with the their gain. hope so. at least someone's got to be free. otherwise, welcome to greater economic slavery and ever diminished hinman rights. unfortunatley communism has not gone quietly into the night, its still around and its still bad, like a political mafia with no real scruples. like the clintons!
