pokemon go is really a game for teens and adults its appeal to everyone is because of the augmented reality not the pokemon characters the game could be anything if it involves AR or VR . And pokemon go its a very social game most video games lead to social isolation but if the game requires someone to get out and move around and interact with other people outside which it does and thats what you have to do to play and interact with the real life environment instead of being inside in front of a TV . But any type of AR game is going to be very popular with adults and teens i think and thats exactly where gaming is going to be headed after this

i dont think young children should play it alone at all unsupervised because the pokemon are randomly appearing anywhere for safety reasons but just like if/when augmented reality gaming glasses come out to the public that involves movement they will be popular with adults and possibly outlawed for young childen or under a certain age unless they are supervised and other pedestrian laws i could see would be necessary and neither should people ever drive or ride a bike while they are looking at a cellphone no matter what theyre doing on it

when exactly is pokemon go supposed to go live in japan hopefully soon ........ all humans fear the unknown but are you seeing thousands no millions of Americans walking into traffic or off bridges no after one or two times people walk at a slower pace and pay closer attention thats embarassing bumping into things out in public and YES it is more distracting than anything else you would do on your cell phone even texting but people learn that fact quickly and adjust to it by slowing their walk or stopping frequently on their bike people are just going to become very careful also safety in numbers very quickly , which is a good thing to do no matter why your doing something on your cellphone so its just a very good thing to do and thats exactly what is happening so this worry and fear from some people youll see is unnecessary youll see pokemon go travellers are slow and careful and watchful

im in the US and have been playing about 4 days now im a 43 year old mom and have 3X the pokemon my youngest son has and it has nothing to do with wanting to bond with him have no idea how fun and addicting this game is and the last time i played any type of video game was frogger when i was about 13 and a lot of interesting new things will be happening in your neighborhood definately like groups of travellers with backpacks occasionally running amid rumours from another group of a rare pokemon spotting somewhere ;)

this game is definately culture changing and potentially life changing if you decide to download it there is absolutely nothing like it and its revolutionary but i have a feeling that wont be for long with its popularity there will soon be other virtual reality apps that use GPS and augmented reality tech . here (US) there are flocks on people travelling in groups wearing backpacks with essentials cell phone charger bottled water exc. and have become "poke go travellers" and some homeowners here are sharing their electricity with extention cords out to the edge of their property where people walk i live right across the street from a church which is now a gym and i just started doing this myself and my husband is wanting to sell bottled water but as a player myself im giving the electricity and cell charging station for free im getting to know other players now meeting new people and having a blast !!! this is just the funnest game i have ever played and really i just started 4 days ago . I can see the danger in being too distracted and there might need to be pedestrian laws or they might have to adjust the app where there are regular " reality breaks " to look up and pay attention to your surroundings like a popup or boring commercial break but people will adjust and make adjustments - dont worry people ;)
