it would be nice to think so, but I don't think China is much concerned about anything but its own aims.... and if/when they do invade, interesting to watch how 'the world' reacts. "object in the strongest terms" would be the extent of it I expect. but I do hope you are right.....

governmentS, via the Meeja, are really ramping up the old China-Paranoia-Response lately.... wonder what it is they want to distract people from.....

so many numbers bandied about these days that I've no idea what's really what.... for e.g., is this 50% of the population? or 50% of the vaccine-eligible age-range population? why not give a definitive number? spin and obfuscation abounds.

and why always compare to other places? irrelevant, my view.

local cafés and restaurants here in Onjuku installed entranceway temperature-gadgets months and months and months ago, and automatic hand-disinfectant dispensers, require patrons to wear masks and space themselves appropriately..... but no booze. which affects their business no end and I suppose the vestiges of life and enterprise here will further erode.... certification? just more cityhall paperwork. hopeless. and sad.
