off the eastern coast of Hokkaido? how come no-one's blaming it on Kim's missiles… a real waste of a 'propaganda-moment' there….

when I (repeatedly) read about Mr. Abe's largesse, I'm reminded of George Carlin's phrase "…people buying stuff they don't need, with money they don't have…" in Abe's case I wonder what it is he thinks he's buying with the money Japan doesn't have, that world-leaders embrace him as one of them? I don't think he should hold his breath. or is it just that he cares deeply about the less fortunate of this world?

since his lack of concern for the less fortunate amongst his fellow Japanese is obvious, that seems unlikely.

still, there must be a vast untapped market for drugs out there, support the Japanese drug industry and all that. warms the heart doesn't it….

….as for "finished"….. I always wondered why the Haneda monorail (built for the '64 Olympics) terminates at Hamamatsuchō, seemed illogical and impractical… read somewhere that the reason was they ran out of time….

the thing is, about this and many many other similar situations everywhere, in which people in positions of responsibility act irresponsibly, having disastrous effects on the environment, fianance, and we the little people… is that they have no problem looking in the mirror because they just don't give a toss…. therefore no amount of disapproval will change anything, unfortunately….

should hand over management of some of the big corporations to the people who run Daiso and Can-Do and the like… they've got their act together and seem to thrive on goods on which there can be minimal mark-up… couldn't do any worse anyway….

just forgot that I'd put it inside some buns and wrapped them in pastic bags, and packed the hotdog buns in my luggage because they're, um, not available in Japan? she'd be better off using the "I was drunk and don't remember" gambit….

in any case… less than a gram? "SOME of which was sandwiched in hotdog buns in plastic bags… and "arrested the next day"? weird story all round

Posted in: Japan accepts 3 refugees in first half of 2017, despite record number of applications See in context

this is not an opinion either way on whether or not Japan should accept refugees… but if the government wants no refugees, why not say so, give up the omote stance, re-direct the man-hours and money to some positive action for Japanese people… why always the ちゅうとはんぱ approach to things? of course, we already know the answers to these questions, but… be nice to see someone break the pattern for once. not holding my breath.

agree with most of what you say Alfie, that various former areas of eclectic and original creative energy have been taken over by the Brand Palaces and 'Labels' (even Takeshita-dōri)… but only the places, 'creativity' exists, and will just pop up in different places and in different ways...

completely accepted and integrated in Onjuku, pop: 7000… but then, I've never encountered any difficulty 'being me' in Japan… more accepted actually, than in my native England, or Oz… and it only took an hour, literally , to find a wonderful place to buy and live… so, just depends
