Well as it is it looks like LDP will form the Government once again. For the last 10+ years LDP has somehow survived so much since regaining power. From the bad economy, stagnant wages, the Covid pandemic, wasting of taxpayers money for the Olympics, usage of taxpayers money for private LDP parties, fundraising corruption, financial scandals, the all time low value of the yen and much more. Somehow the Japanese people will continue to give LDP just enough seats to form the Government! Yet, they will talk negatively about other countries where one party dominates politics.

Japans rank will drop even further because of the current and upcoming generation of teens and 20 year olds! 75% of Japanese people in universities have never heard of “ Dynamic Pricing “ and from the 25% who have heard about it, only 10% actually know what it meant! Not knowing basic things affecting daily life has become the new norm with these people. But if you ask them about idols, you tubers, Line Voom up-loaders they they know them all! Uploading and watching people acting like imbeciles on social media is their priority these days! The older generation and current middle aged Japanese people worked so hard and used their intelligence to make Japan such a wonderful country but the young generation of Japanese will utterly destroy Japan!

That is not what privilege means, if you have to make double the effort to reach the same place only because you are a member of a group (no difference in capacity) then even if the person is at that position there is no privilege involved.
Absolutely correct! Yours is the most sensible, factual and best comment I’ve seen in a while here on Japan Today comments section!

I used to order from Pizza Hut twice a week back in 2018-2020 on every Friday / Saturday nights! It was reasonably priced and good taste. Pizza Hut in Japan has increased prices significantly especially from 2022-2024 and the quality and taste has declined dramatically! Not worth the amount these days as better options are available out there! Even the frozen pizza sold in supermarkets are better tasting than Pizza Hut in Japan!

The first thing that President Trump will do after regaining power is that he will fire this clown! President Trump knows the importance of doing business with China for economic stability and growth! China cannot be ignored or pushed aside as far as trading and economic sectors are concerned. President Trumps daughter Ivanka has her entire fashion brand produced in China and marketed globally through China’s distribution. President Trump plans to build many hotels and buildings in China and will work closely with the Chinese government after coming into power. That’s his life long dream and he will liaise with Chinese officials accordingly after becoming president in 2025! The current US Ambassador to Japan Rahm ( because of his anti China views ) will be changed immediately by President Trump.

Man United have been in a terrible terrible state for the past 2 years. They have been in terrible form since Sir Alex left them but the last 2 seasons under Ten Hag have been the worst!!! Everything Ronaldo said in his famous interview 2 years ago were exactly correct from the ability of the manager to the falling infrastructure at Man United! Fans were hoping for some changes when Sir Redcliff invested and bought minority stakes but reality is that result will not change under Ten Hag as he simply doesn’t have the skills to guide a club as big as Man United!

Posted in: Hard times may await Japanese on working holidays in Australia See in context
They fail to find proper working holiday jobs and also they fail to enjoy the time in Australia because of their super limited English skill. Some of these working holiday Japanese people can’t speak even a basic sentence in English so they will always get jobs only in Japanese restaurants or something related to farm work which is extremely challenging and in isolated areas. To top it all up, many of these working holiday people form their own Japanese groups to hangout during their free time and talk only in Japanese while in Australia so naturally their English doesn’t improve at all. So it’s meaningless to travel to Australia on a working holiday visa if your English level isn’t above a basic beginner level as you’ll encounter extreme disappointments when looking for “ cool jobs “ and you’ll end up stuck working at a Japanese restaurant or farm!

@JeffLee
Tokyo and other Japanese cities shouldn't hold large scale international events. There's always a litany of complaints from the locals. Public transportation, which is crucial for moving people, is already overburdened in normal times. Tokyo is just too crowded for accommodating these kinds of events.
You are absolutely correct! Tokyo is not equipped to hold large scale international events when thousands and even millions pour into the city! Everything comes to a standstill because of the issues with the local transportation. Luckily that many of the Rugby World Cup matches were spread out to other areas because if it was only Tokyo then there would have been a bigger mess! Tokyo dodged a bullet because Olympic didn’t have the general crowd due to the pandemic or the transportation issues would have just made it impossible for locals to move around. Imagine if during an international event being held in Tokyo there is a natural disaster such as a major earthquake and Tsunami…there would be utter catastrophe and unnecessary deaths would occur because of the crowds.

Forget buying US steel. Build plants in Japan. Create jobs in Japan.
After doing what you mentioned, Japan will need to bring in Vietnamese, Chinese, Philippines and other poor countries people to work in those factories because of labor shortage. Already most blue collar factories / companies in Japan do so under the technical training visa system. Even Amazon warehouses in Chiba, Kanagawa and Saitama areas have a good 50% plus foreign workers!

The banks in Japan need to do more to tackle these sorts of bank transfer frauds given the fact that they have account information of the other person who the money is transferred to! It’s highly possible for them to track down these people given the fact that to open a bank account in Japan people need to present photo ID and other relevant documents. These scammers need to be caught and brought to justice.
Lots of other information missing in this article! It’s stated “ the woman claiming to be a Japanese “… so was she or wasn’t she? This could be verified easily through the details of whom he transferred the money to! Also if a foreigner receives that kind of money through transfers in any Japanese bank then it’s surely flagged by the bank. So it’s highly possible that the woman was indeed a Japanese as far as her identity with the banks is concerned.

7 and i has 3x the number of stores and 3x times the revenue. And 7 and i has strong brand value.
The size and revenue doesn’t matter when the operation cost is so high! Last year they recorded a 8 billion yen loss in Japan!!! This year will be worst! You should do a simple search on their 7 i holding official website and go through the financial information and it’s all clearly stated there. As for the brand value aspect, humans tend to lose loyalty soon as the bottom line becomes money so businesses will never survive on that brand recognition alone ( used to be a big deal with Japanese consumers but times are changing and most Japanese customers don’t care about brand value these days as they’ve become similar to American customers)!
