the United States can not resist interfering where they are not wanted and are not needed, or at least attempting to interfere...in Syria and Iran they have made terrible errors and will not admit to being sadly mistaken.

Nobody in the United States government has the slightest notion of what is going on regarding the middle east and has no concept of Islam or the Muslim people yet they insisted on trying to "fix things" by jumping in and blowing up random places and random people....gee aren't we great!

and act all surprised and insulted when they are not appreciated....

yes my sister had a friend who would "return" small items around the holidays from certain shops and stores with liberal policies in order to save on gifts. One of the few Christians we knew and that type of attitude has never led me to have a positive notion regarding christians

Posted in: Asia News Weekly - What is North Korea’s Kim Jong-un up to? See in context

Kim Jong-Un makes me laugh every time I see him. I was in South Korea in the early 80s and the Chinese smuggler hair cut was only worn by petty criminals and those on the fringe of society....punks and thugs.

Because that is who originated this hair style that Jong-un wears now...the Chinese smugglers who crossed the border with contraband years ago and nobody with a good reputation would copy that look ...unless they lost a heavy bet

Posted in: Residents of Russian-held isles await diplomatic resolution See in context

the Kurils are never brought up because the in the Treaty of San Francisco the United States forced their loss via the conditions for accepting Okinawa. it was not necessary just another humiliation forced by the victors who had already added onerous punishment by dropping two atomic bombs after Japan had already been asking for peace. The problem was Harry Truman and many other Americans of the time were racist and would rather kill certain people than than make peace...this explains a lot about the United States and the attitude in the "land of the free"

in April and May 1945 peace overtures made through Sweden http://www.ihr.org/jhr/v16/v16n3p-4_Weber.html

Truman was a racist all his life

Posted in: Do you think Donald Trump would make a good U.S. president and how do you think it would affect U.S.-Japan relations if he were elected? See in context

if only he were half as brilliant as he thinks he is. He is rich because his daddy was rich and the first time he went bankrupt his daddy bailed him out had gave him a fresh start, that taught him to use the bankruptcy laws and not pay back his bills. There are several banks that will no longer do business with him because they want their loans repaid.

He has told the American citizens over and over "I will do ...this or that" but never once said what he would do or how he would do it.

He hates everyone who is not a white boy which makes him the same as the rest of the old white Republicans. Trump in office would make Abe seem pleasant by comparison

Posted in: How rampant is abuse in nursing homes for elderly? See in context

my own mother is elderly now and I look after her. My Korean wife was at one time an LVN in a nursing home for the elderly and on her advice I would not place one of our relatives in a "retirement home"

she worked at a fairly good rated home which usually had only a couple of nurses on duty and never enough orderlies to handled the work load. I gathered that she saw no intentional abuse but all the nurses were over worked due to many patients being ignored because the most staff was over worked, under paid and didn't care about their job.

what others mentioned about this as a career is true..the orderlies had no passion for this low paying job as a career and take it because it was the work they could find and at least for the orderly position it doesn't really require any credentials or requirements to get hired

Posted in: Iran nuclear deal survives: Democrats block disapproval vote See in context

I have been to both Iran and Kuwait and believe this deal will bring only good to the people of not only the United States and Iran but everyone else, especially in that area. Only Netanyahu and his cohorts in the legislatures of Israel and the U.S. dislike a move towards peace in the mid-east.

The majority of those who were/are against this deal have no knowledge of Islam and/or no experience with that religion and the people of Iran who are predominately Shi'a and for the most part at odds with the Sunni.

Posted in: Abe's wife visits Yasukuni shrine See in context

When the United States apologized for the murder of hundred of thousands of civilians, mostly women and children during the Atom bombs and fire-bombings AFTER the war had already been won....and the massive looting and rapes during the occupation then we have room to whine about Japan paying homage to their war dead the same was do we even though no American has ever had to face trial for war crimes. and there were a lot of them....in the Second World War, Korea (I saw a couple) and Viet Nam some of which were finally reported ....the United States claims the high ground but really .....Mrs. Abe visited Yasukuni, is that any worse than the American First Lady visiting Arlington?

Some of the War Criminals who were never charged are buried there.

Posted in: WWII aftermath: How did Japan and Germany become global powerhouses? See in context

you can attribute much of the help from the United States to guilt over the racism that was behind the decision to drop the atom bombs on Japan after the war had already been won and there was some guilt over the fire bombings of civilians in both Japanese and German cities but you will not find many in the U.S. now who will admit that. The attitude of Prime Minister Abe is prevalent in the leadership of the United States for some reason.

Posted in: Seventy years on, few Americans regret Enola Gay's mission See in context

because so many americans are used to their wars killing mostly civilians and they are always told by the teachers in the schools and the people who lead them that the U.S.A. is always in the right. The America Love it or Leave it attitude is to blame and anyone who has never lived anywhere else or spent much time outside of that country believes it without question. The Atomic Bomb saved American lives rather than killed countless innocents is what so many have been taught

what used to be known as a psychopath is now renamed ASPD or AntiSocial Personality Disorder and I still have my doubts as to whether the psychological fraternity is capable of treating this disorder when they are not even capable of deciding what causes it or agreeing on what to name it.

I am not even sure that psychology is a valid profession for that matter

the U.K, was smart to keep the Pound Sterling and if Greek leaves the Euro do not be surprised to see Spain, Italy, Portugal and Ireland eventually follow suit. Good old America gonna fight the fire by adding fuel to the flames.

The U.K. has the Official Monster Looney Party while the USA has ...well both the main parties are so far to the right of common sense that we no longer should be surprised when they start to shovel cash and military into every conflagration and pile bad decision on top of bad decision .....make matters worse than before and expect to be considered the world leader.....then are shocked we are mad the next time they interfere when they were not asked and were not wanted.....

Just exactly which official of the Iraqi government was it that said please send more troops?
