Specifically one guy who couldn't hold his liquor, went berserk when was told to leave a bar, punching out a kid of 13 and destroying private property.

I he went beserk at 2300 when he was told to leave, how did this happen at 0100? something is missing in this story

You are one of many Americans who don't seem to realise that outside the base is ANOTHER COUNTRY. It goes by its own moral codes, laws and ways of behaviour. The whole world is NOT the U.S.A.

You can't say we hate Americans and want them locked on base when you gladly serve them after a known curfew. Cut him off at 2230 and tell him to go home. Continually serving someone who is already drunk is bad.

Why didn't the bar kick him out at 2300?? I guess as long as they were getting money, they would look the other way?

The Fact of the matter is that no matter how much talk and lip-service they give about how outstanding the servicemen are EVERY YEAR soldiers are arrested for rape, robbery, etc They can't control them outside of base. They can't always control them on Base for that matter.

Shinfinger - you might as well declare marshall law in Okinawa. You are just as likely to have a crime commited against you by an Okinawan as you do a US Service Member. The numbers back this up.

time for a 2300-0500 curfew there. That will help lower the crime.

wow, way to blow an easy oppurtunity to help the economy and boost tourism. The return on investment would have been high on this, but i guess thinking outside the box is not the way the government wants to do business. Bad move!

Did any of the posters read the article?

The strong yet will not pass along savings to the Japanese since all of export heavy Japanese companies are losing money. As the yen stays overvalued, the Japanese economy, which is driven by exports, will continue to flounder.
