The only thing SK needs to do to stay on the white list is to send a document, report regarding missing materials, to Japan. That’s the due process. Failing to do that makes them off the list, that is only natural.

What keeps them from doing that? Why not just follow the process but make it a huge conflict? I don’t understand what’s on their mind.

This will not lower Abe’s approval rate in Japan.

1) 90% of dent corn import has already been from America. Adding more from America is not a big deal.

2) This makes China’s counter measures of rejecting on US corn import ineffective. Which is good for Japan too.

3) US beef and Japanese beef has different use in Japan. Yoshinoya can’t make beef bowl with Japanese beef it has to be American beef.

No big lose on Japan side. Also needless to mention what didn’t happen in France, such as US putting pressure on Japan as currency manipulator which gives Japan more room for QE.

Japan revoked Korea from the white list because Korea had been refusing to answer to Japan for years where the missing imported products went.

Japan told Korea G20 of last month was the deadline and Korea still ignored it. So here we are.

And Korea’s ignoring 1965/2005 agreement is another issue. To this Japan has not been retaliating yet but sending warning. As soon as Korea starts to hurt Japanese companies Japan will retaliate in a different field other than “white list”.

Since EU-Japan EPA I’m already enjoying cheaper olive, canned foods and many others. Though I’m a big fan of Japanese food and hope Japan’s agriculture will find the way to get steadier, feeling good having variety of choices from all over the world that’s not a bad thing at all.

I've constantly appreciated US ambassadors in Japan.  I remember how much Ambassador Roos helped by being with us with his kind and dedicated actions during the Great Earthquake I still can't see his name without tears. He is truly a great man. Ambassador Kennedy helped us by letting US president Obama know what kind of person PM Abe actually was when Abe was simply labeled as "revisionist" on American news media. Ambassador Hagerty, while being between President Trump and PM Abe both very strong and unpredictable figures, did the tough job to maintain good US Japan relationship. Unspectacular but heavy duty job he accomplished.

They are all tough but sincere, honest, dedicated Americans, Great "symbol" of America in Japan.  

I wish Good Luck on Ambassador Hagerty's Senate Election. Thank you Ambassador.

Of course. Many JT posters think that way we Japanese know that.

On the other hand DPRK middle range nuke missiles and abduction issue is not joke to us. We expect PM to use every measure, that is including giving Trump what he wants as long as it doesn't damage Japan, to work on DPRK issues. PM is doint a real job. JT posters laughing at it. I don't care.

As a Japanese I do think it was good that Abe nominated Trump for the Nobel peace prize. Of course Trump doesn't deserve it. But still it was good because looking at Trump from Japan we were worried that Trump might agree with North Korea by only eliminating long range missles, ICBMs targeting mainland US, from North Korea and leave middle range missles targeting Japan from the agreement. If that happenes Japan would be in a big trouble.

Abe's accepting US govt request and nominating Trump is a message to Trump to put middle range missiles and abduction issue too on the table when seeing Kim jon un. Trump openly commented on the nomination, which usually don't happen, is a sign that he will do put those issues on the table.

But if Trump doesn't, Abe may openly retreat the nomination, he would have to in Japanese political landscape.

It is already reported in Japan that Abe sent Trump the letter to inform him of the nomination. Cabinet member in Tokyo confirmed that the request to nominate Trump came from US govt a few months ago and Abe accepted the request so that to let Trump put not only ICBM issue but middle range missiles targeting Japan and abduction issue on the coming US DPRK summit.

It depends on history of countries.

While I see benefit of the system of republic in general, Constitutional monarchy/Parliamentary democracy is the best for Japan. Japan would never seek to become a republic.

Defense minister Onodera is good. I'm glad he replaced Inada under the circumstance.

I can't believe this happened. Used to fly to America often and I never saw this kind in any airport or airlines in America. They were at least nice back then.

Maybe one of the things is that, since 911 airlines and airport police officers consider themselves almighty above the law when it comes to "security".

Immigration policy of a country is core of national sovereignty. Japan's politician has no say on America's immigration policy. Contrary to what's on TV, more Americans support Trump on this issue than those who oppose.

Besides, it's Renho who can't even clarify her own nationality. She's nothing.

I'm a Japanese so this might sound somehow arrogant, but Japan's nuclear deterrence should be effective even without actually having nuclear weapons but only officially mentioning we might develop some.

But I don't believe Japan should actually develop nuclear weapons. I believe that there should be no additional nuclear club nations in the world.

Trump should learn FRB's QE1, 2 and 3. ECB did QE too. Both much greater than Japan's monetary easing. QE, or monetary easing is to set inflation target and have central bank to increase cash flow to meet the target. That is not manipulation on exchange operation. Both US and EU have been doing huge amount of QE to rebound from Lehman shock. Japan only joined that effort when Abe took administration too.

Living in Fukuoka for 12 years, Ford and other US automotive manufactures have done absolutely no effort at all to sell their cars.

Japan and Germany worked hard for decades so that to sell their cars in America, during which time, what effort US did? I have seen none. In Japan I've seen a lot of effort German companies made. but zero of American companies.

No. even if it is America's decision to not accept passengers because of their nationality, Japan is still a free country. passengers of Japan's airlines should bring them to wherever passengers want to go unless they do not violate Japan's security guidance. Japan should not be part of this discrimination based on nationality.
