LostinNagoya, that's my point. Why was this extremely important news confined only to CNN and science publications? It should have been on every news site and in every newspaper in the world.

Are you kidding me? I only heard about this because a friend of mine really into science told me about it. I get updates about Kim Kardashian every damn day but a potential change in the fundamental laws of our universe and I don't hear a thing.

HansNFranz, I'm glad that's the case. It would be such a shame if anything like random genetic mutations or fluxes in psychology altered these iron-cast laws of attraction, but clearly those don't happen because all the flawed people have died out, right?

The thing is, I wasn't making fun of nerds. I was making fun of whoever wrote the article for the claim that Japanese nerds are the pinnacle of "Japan cool". People can do whatever they want to do in their free time, it makes no difference to me. I will say, however, that those who spend all day watching cartoons are nore socially inept than those who spend all day watching sports. Too much focus on one topic does that to you.

Now, I think the fact he specifically mentions Obama is a big part of his statement. I think he's taking a jab at the president by saying that as soon as something becomes a hot topic, that's when people jump on it. Do you really expect Kitano to join the bandwagon? I think what he's saying that if bestiality became a big issue in America, with liberals defending the rights of people to do what they want, then you'll get all these big, high profile people who actually hadn't said anything about the issue before coming out and showing their support in the most attention grabbing way possible.
