I just read this and realized I am a gigantic slob when it comes to any of these rules. How embarrassing..

Posted in: Lawmaker breaks taboo by handing letter about nuclear fears to emperor See in context

There is a notoriety that surpasses the value of the letter and the words within it. It's too easy to forget about the people who are still victimized by the tragedy in Fukushima and it's too easy to pretend that another natural disaster wont wake up the dragon for good this time. Well played. Japan needs les bureaucracy right now and more action when it comes to Fukushima

There's air travel then there is Asian air travel. I am sure the 31 planes are just going to be a drop in the bucket for the future JAL fleet. The China air companies must make orders 10X this size

They deliberately (Asahi) stuck a finger in the eye of someone they perceive as an enemy. Sending peace talks and any possibility of finding the remains of the kidnaped Japanese citizens to impossibility.

The choice of bitter old men shame on them. Who cares about his wife? What does it have to do with anything?

I have to say that when I felt homesick for homefood or if I was hung over Loteria burger & fries hit the spot. Mos Burger is good but has a Japan taste to it. So do the specialty burgers at McD's have a Japanese taste to them.

Posted in: Snoozing here, there and everywhere See in context

I used to lecture everyone on Japanese peoples almost surreal ability to fall asleep anywhere and everywhere. But I was recently corrected in that it's because of the draconian work schedule imposed onto Japanese employees. It's not the long work schedule, its just that when people finish their office job at 10PM or 11PM they still try to do stuff that resembles a real life instead of something out of the novel 1984. The problem is that it cuts into their sleep time leaving everyone in a constant state of sleeplessness. Kind of sucks..

Posted in: Radioactive water from Fukushima plant may have reached sea See in context

IAEA is a bunch of old boys who go drinking together and didn't show up to the Fukushima disaster for months after it happened.

The half life of the radio active elements in question is in the hundreds to thousands of years. This is only the beginning. What's making the situation worse is TEPCO's old boys covering up the disaster stink with a perfume of optimistic press releases and on the other side of the pond foundless anti-scientific diatribes are being pumped out onto the blogosphere about the effects incorrectly. It's horrible.

Posted in: 3 most unattractive women’s hairstyles (according to Japanese men) See in context

Knocking down women for their looks is usually the scant limited arsenal of a self conscious confidence lacking guy. He somehow hopes that sweeping the carpet out from under her feet as a first punch will put her in a position where he can manipulate her and feel better about himself.

I wouldn't say J-guys do this any more than any other manboy on the planet but in Japanese society it's acceptable and expected.

Like you can decide everything about someone's attractiveness is ridiculous.

JeffLee: sorry you are disappointed in the latest trend, perhaps you should open a fashion consulting business for women.

Posted in: Will No. 1 reactor at Fukushima become a future tourist spot? See in context

I probably will get a lot of "bad" votes for saying this but, the east coast of japan is due for another gigantic earthquake. Shouldn't we be focusing on removing the radioactive waste before we invite gawkers to come as tourists? Chernobyl and Pripyat are on fairly seismically stable ground so it's apples & oranges different.

Posted in: Japan's SoftBank gets nod for Sprint takeover See in context

greenlight: what you aren't considering is that people aren't actively shopping for the right plan. It's all about the right handset and it doesn't matter what the charges are.

Right now the main carriers are charging almost double what the smaller brand companies are but because they have exclusive on the iPhone 4, then now iPhone 5, all the smaller companies have failed and are up for sale.

This was done deliberately by the big companies because they knew they cold re-establish themselves as the exclusive provider.

I wish it was like it is in Europe. That would be great

Posted in: Japan's SoftBank gets nod for Sprint takeover See in context

I think the US cellphone market is too crowded as it is. That's why Sprint was for sale in the first place. The Apple boys will do a backroom deal with Verizon or AT&T that will leave Softbank / Sprint with a limited selection of handsets and they will shrivel from the market for sure. Happened here in Canada

I believe it. Everyone is arguing about the physical attributes of pregnancy. You brain is capable of anything. Ask anyone with paranoid delusions how real their perceptions are. Women are responsible for bringing people to this earth and its impossible to believe that all of them will be 100% fit to be up to the task at any stage. Humans are vulnerable to failure. No one mentioned anything about the father of the baby being in denial also. What about him?

Posted in: Are pre-cut vegetables doing our bodies more harm than good? See in context

Dispite the article's tone, I don't think it's an issue of contemplating precut vs. raw vegetables. Precut vegetables is the only window busy / slovenly people have as an opportunity to consume fresh fruit and vegetables.

I find it hard to believe that there is only fiber left in the vegetables. plants and their components are made up of cells. It's impossible to believe that the processing can rob each and every cell of it's nutrition and for it to remain in its original raw state.

It's not a case of whether or not inappropriate behavior happened. That is unclear. It's how it was handled by the old boy's club that is unacceptable.

In a way, it must be a relief to the majority of the forces serving in Japan knowing that the bad guys will be identified as such instead of trying to paint the whole military as a gang of uncontrollable sex predators.

It must be strange for Fukushima laborers to go from scarce employment prior to the great quake to having hundreds of vacancies offered.

I am honestly surprised that they haven't sub contracted labor from china yet. This cleanup cant be delayed because its preventing work that will prepare the fuel rods for the next great natural event as well as the need to contain the poisonous fallout from spreading into the air land and sea.

I am not sure if the person who bought the work checked with the experts or cared about their opinions when he laid down the cash.

The good thing is that when he hands the work onto his kids, he can explain to them who the artist is and why he spent so much money on unskilled calligraphy.
