TheQuestion: Does it fill a void? YES! Convenient to carry for one. Is it necessary for anything? YES! Presentations, emails, slide shows, browsing photos on a decent sized screen, watching movies, listening to music, gaming, internet, telephone calls, ease of use. And until you've actually tried doing the work you think is not possible on the iPad, your comment is as much use as a chocolate fireguard!

Obviously the iPad bashers have never bothered to use one! I use mine to do presentations, slide shows, schedule keeping, internet use, email and even as a phone! Big and bulky? Not at all! It sure as hell beats carrying a laptop to the office or to my client's office, unless I really need to. And why would people be "wrestling with them on trains"? An oversized newspaper I can understand, but the iPad is no bigger than a decent sized book! And, BURAKUMINDES, to shrink it down to the size of an iPod defeats the purpose of having a larger screen and the functions it can perform! Here's my palm - please slap yourself with it! Netbooks don't even come close to the iPad, are a lot more bulky and generally have crappy battery life! The convenience, comfort and ability to do many tasks virtually anywhere are what sold me on it! 75% of users who voted 'No' probably can't get their heads around the fact that something so simple, is so much better than other alternatives on the market, or the fact that the iPad is an absolutely awesome device that can absolutely be used in the working environment!
