While I abhor this deal, there is always an exit, even if it means the people storming parliament and putting in new interim govt. If world boycotts and blockades, many resources can be produced internally.

Screw em right back. Get a consular officer and renounce your citizenship. If resident of the country you're in, they cannot deport you as you would be stateless. Enough people do that, then I'm sure congress would act.

More govt overreach in the people's democratic republic of SOUTH korea. An idea cannot be defamed. If she named actual names of some of the comfort women, maybe.

smithinjapan: To your comment about north korea, google kim jong style.

I come from old school thought: if something offends you, turn the flippin channel. If we banned everything people found offensive, nothing would be printed or on tv.

Lastly, anybody got a link to the videos? Not on YouTube yet.

Shame they can't just have a quota system. SC said no quota, but need to be fair and diversify. Sorry SC, but quotas are a tool to diversify. In Germany, quotas are used on boards of directors to ensure equal representation by employees. Their constitutional court doesn't say no quotas but continue as that would leave companies stacking the deck against employees and forcing wages cut and factories shut.

Get around funeral costs altogether: say its against your religion to have any business related to death. If christian, quote "let the dead bury the dead." Unsure if can quote other religions.

Modern mass media doesn't help, but he was alleged. Innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, not guilty until proven innocent in a court of public opinion.

How big was the suitcase? Mine can't even hold a manila envelope. Also, he didn't abandon the body...he kept it locked in the house.

As far as the HS comment, it'll be the same as in the States. Teachers still can't touch by virtue of position of authority. They may, however, split the age of majority from the drinking age as well.

Itsonlyrockandroll: "Japan pacifist constitution cannot be arbitrarily discarded by any government."

It depends on the independence and willingness of judicial (supreme court) to strike down any attempt to circumvent. North Korea has the most freedoms detailed in its constitution, but reality shows a much different place. We need to not have the justices appointed by the executive, but rather a jury-style selection for a set term (just make sure constitutional law is part of the school programme).

"Helping to set the stage for Kishida’s visit, a South Korean court last week cleared a Japanese journalist of defaming Park."

Excellent, but they need to take that autocratic law off the books, especially since the korean presidency is political unlike the Japanese monarchy or the Canadian governor general. Half the population of the US would be in jail for a law like that.

The lower paying jobs are usually manual labour. If he would quit one manual labour job for another manual labour job that has less work, skills needed, or brainpower involved, then yes that would be an issue. A person working 60hours per week in an office probably won't want to work at McDonald's.

Perhaps a change in economic systems is in order. If zombie companies go under, there'll be more unemployment. More unemployment means pension will collapse faster. Old and young will riot...

Note to US car buyers. Do not buy Subaru.

I believe Subaru North America and Subaru Japan are separate companies that have interlocking shares (similar to conglomerates in the States). Depending on amount of shares Subaru JP owns in Subaru American, they may have little to much influence.

I wish that the USA would deport Trump and ALL of the teabaggers, THEN we can make some progress. Throw out the fundie Christians too!

That would leave about 15% of the population !

Many modern liberal democracies have a monarch (reserve or figurehead only, of course). They seem to unite the people better than a partisan political leader (presidential system), and hold country together slightly better thsn elected figurehead president (parliamentary republic).

Yubaru:

Chill. Just having a little fun introducing other contenders amd showing that the modern countries aren't really the successors of territory. You still see this with Taiwan. Taiwan (republic of china) is claimed by people's republic of china, but they won't let them take over. Republic of china took over the empire of china despite emperor not backing down. As far as senkakus go, japan annexed them along with its owner, the Ryukyu kingdom. Depends on how far back you wanna go, which is the fun part in these little kerfuffles.

Posted in: Japan plans to deploy troops near disputed islands See in context

Taiwan, china, etc. No one can really claim them as people's republic of china is the country that took over the republic of china (taiwan). Republic of china took over the empire of china. Depending on how long ago, the land should be returned to the great grandson of the chinese emperor (successor jin yuzhang) orthe Ryukyu kingdom. Since America says annex of crimea was illegal (and hence much of American territory since it was taken from the natives), the annexation by Japan was as well. King mamoro shou of Ryukyu is the other lawful contender.
