Another interesting angle of this story is this part:

That trade meant a prison release for Viktor Bout, a Russian citizen U.S. authorities have called one of the world's top illegal arms dealers and who was captured after a global manhunt

So, according to 'patriots' selling weapons is one of the worst crimes ever?

Yes, but they’re not a minority, and more importantly, they’re not Basketball players.

Person A: Discharged from the US military for larceny and charged with espionage in a foreign country.

Person B: Never charged with a crime against her own country, and caught with less than a gram of hemp oil.

Posted in: Taco Bell Japan’s DIY Tacos Kit gives us what we want and more See in context

For anyone in Japan who doesn't know, some advice for making cheap American-style tacos in Japan.

業務スーパー has 'regular size' for a lot of the items needed: 12-packs of taco shells in the dry-section for about 200-yen, or frozen flour tortillas (sometimes whole wheat) about 300 yen for 12, small taco sized.

They also have canned pinto beans for about 200yen probably 400grams, They have a mixed finely shredded cheese, about 200 yen for 200 grams. I also pick up some black olives, pickled jalapenos, and hot sauce there. They have salsa, but it isn't great so I make homemade pico-de-gallo.

At regular supermarkets, there are little packs of seasoning by S&W for various non-Japanese dishes, and they have one for 'Taco RIce' that seasons about 300 grams of meat for under 100yen. Pick up the meat, lettuce, and tomatoes (and onions for me) while you are there and you can make 12 tacos for probably 1,500 yen or so.

She has no legal status to live in the US,only an American can apply for a matrimony visa for his finance

He is employed by an American firm, so he would have a work visa, and she would have a dependant visa. Isn't really anything unusual.

Stay in Japan, but legal..

Is it legal to murder someone for overstaying a visa?

I believe in laws and rules, very much so. But the punishment must not exceed the severity of the crime. Police and authorities are not judges and executioners.

By the way, was it even possible to travel back to her country in 2020?

The Olympics are, as they have always been, a corrupt scheme for and by the elites. I have never watched them, and never will.

However, having vaccinated people visit really has nothing to do with stay-at-home 'recommendations' people are free to move around Tokyo as they please. Common sense would non-vaccinated people be careful to reduce exposure risks, and I believe most people choose to stay home as much as possible out of self-preservation.

Yes, businesses are suffering, but that is because of the virus. VIP's coming to Japan or not doesn't change anything.

Marriage is designed and created by the spirit upstairs to be between a man a women, in holy matrimony.

Man, he sure let's a lot of us barren atheists get married without any spite.

Also, I did not get married in 'holy' anything. I went to city hall.

But all kidding aside, I respect your freedom to practice YOUR beliefs.

In that spirit, God made man, what makes you think he didn't make homosexuality? He sure as heck made people capable of getting pregnant without being married. Perhaps we humans are supposed to use the brains and hearts he gave us to work together to solve problems? Perhaps if those who can't have babies but want them and those who have them and can't support them both exist in the world, they can help each other?

Yes, in 2016 Dems wanted to confirm, the republicans insisted that it is 'tradition' to wait until after the election.

So, either admit you stole the seat from Obama, or you are hypocrites.

Dems have no choice except to try to play by your arbitrary 'rules' since playing fair is off the table with these corrupt immoral and evil Republican Senators.

It is repulsive to be calling Dems hypocrites because they are calling your bluff.

You will get your seat. And all of us non billionaires will suffer for years to come. The consequences of this supreme court will not only target the 'libs'

The conservative posters on here are still completely ignoring the fact that this news article is about Trump refusing to even read a BIPARTISAN agreement, less than a week after calling for bipartisanship over and over.

The wall (more like a fence in reality) will not change anything, it's smoke and mirrors that work to make you forget about all the corruption in politics. Divide and conquer if you will. If you care so much about the American people, spend that $25b-$70b on reducing gun violence, the opioid crisis and healthcare which are killing WAY WAY more Americans

By the way, do Democrats understand what the word “negotiating” means? Maybe a dictionary would help them.

This article is literally about the POTUS refusing to consider a BIPARTISAN deal

They are the party or entitlements, see California.

What entitlements? They don't rank high on welfare or food stamp percentages. Are you basing on 'raw numbers' a favorite pastime of the right? Yes, we have more people in Cali, we get more votes, we get more social security, etc. Guess what? We also pay a lot more taxes.

As lawmakers in Congress closed in on a bipartisan budget deal that could end months of budget uncertainty, Trump threatened to upend the discussions by insisting that any spending package would have to include changes to immigration laws - the very issue that led to a three-day shutdown last month.

So, there was this speech last week where this man kept saying 'Let's be bipartisan'

The right wing media whined and whined how the left refused to be bipartisian

A group representing 100 ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES of the people, reached an agreement.

We really need to impeach Steven Miller

if the left want to try and challenge his right to decide as an owner who lives on his property is just grasping at straws.

Let’s assume you mean ‘right to live there’

there are actual laws that protect from housing discrimination (Fair Housing Act, part of the Civil Rights Act 1968) is you might want to say you are grasping at straws

Go to Orange County and see how capitalism works and go downtown LA, Compton or Oakland, San Francisco and see how entitlements work and you tell me where you want to live.

But sure, capitalism has nothing to do with it, right? The reason people leave NY and California is the HUGE SUCCESS of the economies of those areas has driven up housing costs. I hardly call wall street, Hollywood and Silicon Valley as signs of the horrible decline of the blue states.

What states are the poorest again? Oh, right the red ones.

What is racism? Saying that diverse cities (Oakland, SF, Compton) are lazy, but white poor (Appalachia) are the neglected.

The U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Sentencing Commission reported that as of 2014, illegal immigrants were convicted and sentenced for over 13 percent of all crimes committed in the U.S.

According to the FBI, 67,642 murders were committed in the U.S. from 2005 through 2008, and 115,717 from 2003 through 2009. The General Accounting Office documents that criminal immigrants committed 25,064 of these murders.

I haven't found these stats anywhere on the DOJ's website yet, I will for sure look into that. I did find the news article you quoted, but I'm unfamiliar with the site so I will take it with a grain of salt for now.

But one thing to ponder...white mass murders kill themselves and never go to jail, powerful people rarely go to jail for white-collar crime. Look into the two-tiered justice system before quoting me statics about the people they actually throw in jail.

As for murder, Republicans keep telling me 'the black men' are the murderers, so excuse me while I adjust to the new boogyman. This is the first I heard all the murderers are illegals. I thought they were the drug dealers? I heard the story of exactly TWO killed by illegal immigrants during the SOTU, and of one in California during Trump's campaign. If you find me a primary source from the DOJ I will concede you are correct, and also I will continue to research, because I care about the truth. I don't 'want' illegals to flood into our country, I just don't agree with you that we should kick Dreamers out of WASTE MONEY on a wall (that we pay for, not Mexico. And is not very different from what we have now) that could be better spent fixing education, health care, criminal justice reform and mental health services for the citizens. I choose my priorities for how I think money could be best used to serve the common good, let's make our citizens educated, healthy, and unexploited.

FYI, I'm not trying to 'prove myself right' or 'you wrong' I just don't see the world from the same lens as you

Texas A&M Aggie

But don't take my word for it. Revisit the SOTU address where the world got to witness the democrat body of Congress not acknowledging the low unemployment rate especially among blacks and Hispanics; the service our military is performing on foreign shores; did not even show mock sympathy for two black families whose daughters were brutally murdered by the illegal aliens the the dems want to give American citizenship to yesterday. In the democrat universe, their self-created Black Lives Matters meme has now been replaced with future votes from illegal aliens matters mantra.

I just googled and watched the Fox News video of the moment, and although it did not zoom in on Democrats, there was an overhead shot of the applause for those two murdered girl's families, and it was clear the whole room was standing.

The umemployment rates among black Americans went from 16.6% (2010) to 7.8% (Jan 2017) under Obama. Where is republican praise for that? It was on a clear downward trend for years, so it is hardly fair for Trump to lie about that and then try to take all the credit.

Also, it is clear demagoguery to think that 2 murders from 'illegals' is more significant than, say, the 50 murdered by a natural born citizen in Las Vegas.

Since no one has answered this question:

Question for Americans here, how do you feel about kids saying "The Pledge of Allegiance" everyday in the U.S.?

This is a little comparing apple to oranges, since there is no 'Should emergencies arise, offer yourselves courageously to the state.”

But, the simple answer is I don't think the pledge of allegiance should be part of public schools. Especially since it made me say every day 'with liberty and justice for all' yet I have seen no proof of these words in 40 years.

This is why I denounce indoctrination of kids any where. Look, I love my country. It is my home and my childhood. I love Japan, it is my adulthood and my husband's home. BUT both countries are run by corrupt elites and we need to stop sending our children to go die in order to make them more ridiculously rich. Teach our kids to be leaders who truly care about the human race and the wonders of the world. Countries are just stupid line used for passports and taxes

I'm afraid your way of thinking is extremely westernized and contradicts the Japanese mind.

Yes, our countries communicate differently, BUT the translation was of Lady Gaga, an American. Her words should be translated into an easy to understand version of her thinking. Yes, there are people in every country that might not understand different views (like at least half who voted for Trump) but we cannot misquote people just to make it easy for the viewers. Japanese have every right to disagree with her, but not to distort her message.

. The original meaning is lost but it still conveys the same message. Simplicity and easy to understand is important to us otherwise it will raise too many questions.

You are right that simplicity might be more effective, but NOT if the meaning is lost. For example if I said, For me, American food Trumps Japanese Food, and you translated it into 和食は嫌い it might be offensive, and cause bad relationships.

My Japanese is more simple than the above posters, so for your 'simple is best' we could chose something like 嫌いより愛

Since 2001, the president has earned a $400,000 annual salary

Hahaha. You think the mega rich got that way from a honest salary? He has corporations. Corporations buy the government. The government in turn make laws the help the rich get richer. Compare public records of the all the Senators and note the difference towards a true, honest civil servant such as Bernie Sanders to the rest of them.

Now Trump might not be able to get bribes as the President, but his business will benefit from him letting corporate interests rule, while promising the regular people it will trickle down to them. The lie that has destroyed our middle class.
