Japan after the World Wars have always been alittle behind the US in some areas. Not in technology for example but with society and economics. Some of America was grafted onto Japan. Due to it having its own culture, things that are similar with the US show up later. I say between 15-20 yrs depending on the topic.

I'm not taking anything away from Japan. In some ways Japan is a world leader innovation. Sometimes I think it why Japan has been so successful in certain areas. By looking at similar conditions in America's past and avoiding those mistakes. Like younger and older siblings.

Japan does have a dream. To build the world tallest building. It is being built in Sumida ku as we type. Any business folks out there this will be the next revitalized area in some of the older parts of Tokyo

One day I went wall climbing in Tokyo for the first time with this girl(also first time). After a couple of hours of climbing the instructor praised my technique and ability to pick it up. She was still struggling. One reason was she didn't listen and just kept trying to do it her way. I told her to try the way we were taught and take it easy. During small talk she asked what was your blood type. I said O+. She said really I don't believe you. I said Why? She said because you are so careful and methodical. I am like we are climbing a three story wall with no previous experience and its dangerous. Her response was Oh, I see. I think it is cool conversation piece but I hope people don't start putting too much into it. I believe we are instilled at birth with certain traits and behaviors but you can't rule out life experiences to also shape who we are.

Yeah, this sounds like the beginning of another way to discriminate. Can someone say Gattaca?

Hell, what about us gaijin living here? I wonder how we will fit into this equation. I also have more than several months stashed and some emergency credit cards which I never use. Still I wonder if it will be enough. I guess several months of cup of noodles only and extra saving will be my New Year Resolution. Oh, don't forget watching my back on the streets.

I see people in Japan riding in their cars all the time without seat belts. I even see drivers holding their children at the sametime. It's amazing common sense goes out the window these days.

Yeah, the shaken is just a scam by the car companies. They wanted you to buy a new more car more often despite the low mileage and good condition. It now favors the train companies just as much.

USARonin

You believe a white man shooting someone in a theater because of noise is Black people's fault? What is the rational? I have heard similar rhetoric from Klan leaders. Why is it your comments are biased towards BLACK audiences, it seems you have some personal issues you need dealing with, because Ive been to the movies thousands of times and have seen and heard all kinds of obnoxious people in the theater (white, spanish, and black...). So no its not just black people, shoot you can see that from this article.

The guy made a bigger scene than the person talking. First he made a big scene out of the talking, then he shot the guy which had to be much louder than the guy talking, and he then of course sent everyone else screaming from the theater. So in the end he was a bigger pain in the ass than the guy talking.

Adamantine,

You have shown your lack of knowledge like many here because if you knew about Christian terrorism history you will know it is just as extreme and dangerous.

IRA Christian Identity(a network of Christian terrorist groups) like Al Qaida Army of God Aryan Nation National Liberation Front of Tripura Guardians of the Cedars Klu Klux Klan

Do I need to name more? Like some has stated before, that is the reason we are in this situation now. Pure ignorance! That is why so many good people started sympathizing with the cause. What is even worse about this terrorist threat is in some respects they are winning. They have already out lasted the current US President. He is leaving office a disgrace and failure. I'm loyal American and not Muslim. Gung ho ignorance is getting us nowhere. It didn't work for Republicans in the election and it's not the answer for this war.

People should not fret over China loosing it culture. Everything China does is part of its culture. It one of the oldest living cultures. It is a natural process to change whether better or worst is debatable. If the culture was dead and then it's traditions were lost then that would be a shame. Fortunately it is not. New tradition are being made as we type.

China will once again influence not only Asia but most the world in the near future. Good luck to the Japanese actress.

Playing devils advocate it is not only the Japanese men going on trips throughout Asia. It is also the ladies going abroad to Australia, USA, Canada and UK and finding holiday boyfriends. Not to mention some of the nasty Caucasian foreigners around Tokyo. Dipping in some of those same women people were talking about earlier. You know the ones I am talking about.

The only difference between us and a large majority of Japanese when it comes to this issue is that we should know better. Alot are still ignorant to the issue.

MemyselfI,

What is your definition of "ghetto people"? You seem to use quite often in your comments like you just learned the expression. You mean poor people? You can be rich, live in a nice area and abuse your children. You do understand that, right?

It is so, funny that the Georgian wanted to compare him to Hitler. If he was so ignorant he would know that Hitler was a hardcore conservative and would have more in common with the far right of the US. Remember, Obama is suppose to be the super liberal.

The antagonists need to decide if Obama is liberal or conservative.

"That chapter is closed"

http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/11/12/palin/index.html

Sarge,

That is a quote from Mrs. Palin. She said it is closed. If you have issue with her flip flopping then you should take it up with her. She is back at her day job now and is still willing to talk about it.

Now, she is going to start butt kissing President Obama to get any possible media opportunity available.

The GOP doesn't get it. The hate mongering isn't working. He truly shows how much substance some of the Repubs have. Everybody in the GOP is trying to step up and be heard. Trying to be a superstar.

Ms. Palin has already had 8 interviews since losing the election. She is still saying the same tired old stuff. She said I am still concerned about Bill Ayers. If anybody still wants to talk about it, I will," she said. "However, the campaign is over. That chapter is closed. Now is the time to move on and make sure all of us are doing all that we can to progress this nation." Can we say Career First and Country Second? Grade A "Bull".

Basically, it is one part shock media, one part race baiting to get a following with the racists who did vote for McCain and one part stupidity.

McCain did give a really nice speech. I hope life after the election for him will be fruitful. I would like to see him work with President Obama.

Only bad thing was all the racial slurs and negative words being said in the background by McCain supporters. It kind of ruined the moment for the man. Oh well, Haters!!!! Live with it.

I hope President Obama leads this country to prosperity and brings Honor and Pride back to the US.
