Nice to see someone’s PhD thesis take on a physical form even though it’s not got a shred of practical use. Something to put on KU’s website and an extra line in some academic’s bio. Bravo!!

Great clickbait for anyone who has ever had to teach EFL in Japan.
My oh my, I was triggered!
It was written:
Both Iwasa and Tsunoda speak English well and do interviews in English.
Then he totally contradicts this in the interview with:
Japanese don’t speak as much good English.

Education costs (especially higher education) is the main reason why people are not wanting to have kids. Stop the entrance exam madness with cram schools and universities milking as much as they can from the population.

I feel for the guy.
Library books are pretty grotty sometimes. You never know who’s had their hands on them before you. And there’s hardly any choice. I must’ve read Anne of Green Gables 30+ times since I’ve been in Japan.
Let’s hope that this incident prompts a more up to date library inventory up and down the country real soon!

If you need to wear a mask because you are immune compromised or elderly, or for whatever medical reason then go ahead. But unless I visit you in hospital, you won’t see me wearing a mask. In public, your life is YOUR responsibility not mine. Don’t force your health/life conditions on others. Your so nervous about venturing outside? Stay inside!

Posted in: Nearly 60% in Japan unaware of relaxed COVID-19 mask guidelines: survey See in context
I only wear a mask in my workplace due the mask mandate there. But when I’m out of view from senior or administrative staff I immediately remove it. I also don’t wear a mask on the crowded commuter trains in the mornings and evenings.
