China is toying with Japan, enticing Japan to take the first strike, at which point China will feel justified to retaliate with overwhelming force.
The saddest part of this whole fiasco, Abe is playing right into the hands of the PLA.
The scariest part of that: the CCP knew all along that Abe would fall for it.

As alluded above, Ryukyu needs to kick the American bases out, get independent from Japan, and be their own.
They shouldn't be pawns to the Japanese and Americans anymore. Developing a healthy and mutually respectful relationship with both Japan and China is the way forward for the people of Ryukyu.
Oh yea, and the Yanks can go home. They live 5000 miles away on the other side of the Pacific. They have no business constantly stirring the pot in this region for the last 70 years.

The Senkakus were trusted under US occupation as part of Okinawa and were returned to Japan in 1972.
Not so fast. US granted 'administrative' rights to Diaoyu to Japan, not ownership. US never did, and has not asserted that the islands belong to Japan. Don't try to pull a fast one there.

It's OK to say whatever you want to say. here in Japan.
Technically, that is not true, in Japan or any other country. Try issuing a death threat to the PM or president or monarch of the country and see if you can get away with it. I know for a fact that if anyone issues a death threat to the president of the United States, he can expect a knock on his front door real soon.

Saying Japan started the war is a very simplistic view. Why did they suddenly attack Pearl Harbor? Dig a bit more so you can get past the standard story taught by the eventual victors.
Dig a bit more so you'll realize Japan's World War II aggression started way before Pearl Harbor.

How come it's called the South China Sea even though it's just as close to Vietnam and the Philippines as China?
If you watch Chinese media, you'll notice that they don't call it the South China Sea, just "The South Sea."

Some melons fetch a pretty hefty price in season.
Actually, they fetch an even heftier price off season. Look up the price of a greenhouse grown melon right now, and compare it to a pre-order of one during the summer. Big price difference.

Yes please sink the Yen. It was the Americans who asked us to appreciate the Yen, we followed and we got 20 years of >recession. Isn't our allies great!
Bingo! After seeing what the Japanese went through, you can't blame the Chinese for not wanting the RMB to strengthen too much. It devastated Japan, and it would have done the same to China, or anyone else who accedes to the American's demand.
Remember, the US may take care of you, but not before it takes care of itself first.

Not unprecedented. Sichuan Province in China suffered a major earthquake the same year the Beijing Olympics were held. I'm sure Japan will survive. How much death and suffering ordinary Japanese would have to endure, that's another question.

I couldn't believe the 2011 earthquake was only a Shindo 5+ in Tokyo as it shook like hell.
Tell me about it. I was at Narita airport when THE big one struck. Had to sleep in the terminal for that night. All those aftershocks throughout the night was what really got to me. Not the initial tremor.

I was parodying right wing Japanese's assertion that the IJA set out to liberate Asian countries from Western powers, even though strangely, that involved killing and maiming millions of civilian natives of those countries they were 'liberating'.

Good. There is nothing to apologize for.
The Americans dropped the bombs to liberate the Japanese people from the clutches of the Imperial Japanese Army. If anything, Japanese should thank the Americans.

Japan had been repeatedly asked to surrender, which it refused to do. You didn't heed the warning, you suffer the consequences.
Don't anyone put this on the Americans. At least they had the decency to forewarn the Japanese what was coming, unlike the sneaky attack on Pearl Harbor.
'Together with the United Kingdom and China, the United States called for the unconditional surrender of the Japanese armed forces in the Potsdam Declaration on July 26, 1945—the alternative being "prompt and utter destruction".'
