Antiquesaving: calling Musk a fool is quite a statement. Considering what he has accomplished, I can't imagine the reasoning behind that statement. Also - I doubt that he would weaponize Twitter - he is more of a libertarian than authoritarian.

It was perhaps that 'sordid worship of the bottom-line' that enabled the company to hire so many. The 'dignity of work' should always be respected - but you need a place to work for that to occur. Most of us are capitalists and not communists.

I believe the FSA has as much credibility in its statements as the CDC.

Posted in: Japan to spend ¥1.45 tril on 4th vaccine shots, other anti-virus measures See in context

Pfizer's history of lying about its drugs and paying substantial sums as penalties - and our government asking for 70 years to release relevant data on their covid development / history - and the enormous profits realized by Pfizer - and the redefinition of pandemic - and the redefinition of vaccine - : I'm afraid I just can't believe the info that comes out of mouths of these proponents of the experimental vaccines. I think it is still time to 'follow the money'. I wish it wasn't.

"But he’s just a different animal. He’s a good man that happens to be a really good baseball player. " Indeed!

I think he is the best baseball player ever (I say that as an American), better than Babe Ruth etc. I wish I had seen him play in Sapporo.

It's too bad that great minds, such as the former CTO of MSFT, have chosen to make money not by contributing positive to the market but instead only thru focusing on such 'negative' legal actions. I visited them in Bellevue many years ago when they first started up and was excited to see/imagine what this incredibly gifted bunch of folks would do. I wish they could have applied their smarts to cyber crime or AI.

If the person identifies as something other than their biological self, it does not change what sex they really are.

Washington is a state, not a city.

Posted in: Too many people missing out on health benefits of golf, some experts say See in context

Golf, without a golf cart is a wonderful way to lightly exercise. Silly comments about elitist - racist - sexist are not worth the time commenting about - just ask Gary Player or some of the great South Korean women players. Providing a large green space, often in the city, is a very positive thing for everyone. FoxSoraWinters comments were like a liberal rant having nothing to do with golf.

@Serrano: - or you might just have to pay 540 yen to the new 'hospital'. Introductory letters seem really weird to me, but that's just the Japanese style (for the moment).

Posted in: Trump threatens U.S. allies on trade before leaving G7 summit See in context

All the Trump haters seem to ignore the strength of the US economy, the unemployment rate (especially for blacks) and the potential 'peace' process meeting with North Korea. The usual left tactic is to focus on the personality and ignore the results. Most people are familiar with the saying 'It's the economy stupid.' - and that's doing pretty well, at least for the moment. Name calling is just so shallow. If you think Trump is doing a lousy job, then talk about the results of what he has done that you find displeasing - not his particular personality.

@Noakes: yet another dynastic LDP politician - imo Japan would be better off when women / girls can focus on their studies / careers vs having to tolerate such disrespectful behavior by men - Noda is not helping.

@YuriOtani - This is a discussion forum. BurningBush was not speaking of American Republican platform problems. Your emotional response to his comments were just that - emotional - as in 'not based on facts'. Trump supporting Americans, like me, have a logic that prefers capitalism over socialism - not because it is perfect (it is not) but because it works better than socialism. Human rights are a very important thing, but not easily achieved. All people should be treated with compassion.
