Sometimes masks make unattractive women look attractive. I think that’s one of the reasons people keep wearing them.
or perhaps they are motivated by their daily diet?
One could eat as much garlic as they want throughout the day.
If someone were really keen to try to convince me to wear a mask, in all honesty, that would be a convincing argument for me.

Being an unapologetic pro life supporter, I applaud this outcome, even if it only means that each state now gets to choose for themselves.
it was never a women’s rights issue for me. It was purely for the protection of an unborn child right to live.
The fact that pro-choice supporters were using the argument and conflating it to denying women’s right to choose actually sickened me.
A right to choose or a right to live… not a difficult decision for me

directly in the article above it says…
There were no infected people hospitalized with severe symptoms in Tokyo, health officials said. The nationwide figure is 36, down two from Thursday.
i’m curious what do you think nationwide figure, 36 refers to?

I don’t see what most of the posters here have issues with…
we all have principles and every day we make decisions whether or not to do something based on those principles. Myself included.
It seems kind of hypocritical to me to complain just because you may not agree with their particular principles in this case

For those that have trouble understanding the numbers on Monday and Tuesdays (for all the good it will do as I’m convinced certain people just troll)
posted numbers are from the day before.
Therefore, Numbers posted on Mondays reflect Sunday’s positives. Sunday’s numbers always low because most clinics are closed and not much testing occurs.
The best comparisons are against last weeks numbers. So compare this Tuesday numbers against last Tuesday’s numbers (down 562).
if some people can’t legitimately wrap their head around that then… well….

It’s only as ridiculous as you allow it to be. All you need to do is remove it.
Do your part. I am. The more people that see you without a mask, the more people that will be encouraged to do so as well. Because you know everyone wants to but no one wants to stand out.
it will be like a domino effect. Mind you, in slow motion but it will happen

Odd in this age of “equality”

@divinda Canadians can’t move inside their own country with a flight, a train or by boat.
also not allowed to fly outside Canada if they are not fully vaccinated, you can read all about this on Peckford42.Wordpress.com or on the Canada government site.
But they can drive!
this is why I will never return to Canada (I can’t deal with how authoritarian it has become…)

During the Bolshevik revolution between 50,000 and 200,000 people were “executed”.
Just prior to and early on in the revolution “the leaders of the uprising knew only too well what the masses were capable of, especially if armed up to the teeth, and moved to monopolize gun ownership. If you were caught with a firearm, you could face at least 10 years imprisonment. Execution was most likely.
THIS is the purpose of the second amendment. It is there as a means of protection against a tyrannical government. It is not for recreational or hunting purposes. I also believe that this is the underlying motivation to get rid of the second amendment. It is as plain as day that government is becoming more tyrannical.
Those who are falling for the playing heart strings are being played.
If those in power (for those who support them) really cared about those children, they would be focusing on what’s causing these people to go on these rampages in the first case. Yet that is 100% being ignored as if it’s not even a factor and only focusing on gun control. In fact, if that idea is even brought up, it is ridiculed (see down votes below). The level of hypocrisy is staggering.
I would speculate, in most cases, the underlying causes for these rampages would be attributed to many of the previously instituted changes by those in power in the first place. Create the problem and offer a solution…
I am all for some sort of gun control. For example, a legal age of 18 to purchase one, background checks (it must be proven that the purchaser has no violent criminal history nor has spent time in a mental institution or has some documented history of mental instability. Perhaps even needing to complete a gun safety course and obtain a license like those who are legal to drive a car. This is not unreasonable.
That would make the majority of people eligible and I’m fine with that.

What are these 'air traffic control actions'? The sky hasn't got smaller.
I will go out on a limb here and speculate that there are more than a few air traffic controllers who shouldn’t hold position that they do, thanks to quotas.
Either we get more detail or we assume our Glorious Leaders are messing with us again.
this is also a big possibility

Well this freeloader hasn’t even had the flu in more than a decade. The only time I go to the hospital is to get my yearly physical. But of course, I still pay my medical Insurance on time every month. I should calculate how much I’ve paid into medical insurance over the years…
come to think of it, I do feel similarly though, as far as freeloading goes, when I think about smokers or those who are obese. The deaths and hospitalizations of those two far surpass Covid problems. and those two problems would be far easier to eradicate than a virus.

And everyone else around as well, right?
everyone’s has to do what they think is right to serve them well. I don’t make other peoples decisions for them, nor do I care to.
sorry but I don’t buy into that whole “social responsibility” thing. That’s just a pathetically desperate thing to say to try and guilt or bully somebody into changing their mind or complying.
in the future, there may be a time and a place for such measures but it’s certainly not with COVID. Not by a long shot.
if you wanna get vaccinated, giddy up. If you don’t, that’s cool too.

get vaccinated… or boosted …. No more made up excuses people…. Your best chance at survival or reducing your chances of getting a severe case are with vaccines!!!!
I’ll pass. And I won’t offer any excuses.
I simply decided I don’t want it.
I will continue doing what I’ve been doing my whole life… living a healthy lifestyle. Eating healthy and exercising regularly. In fact, that is my advice to everyone.
It serves me very well.

No rules, but the custom appears to be: wear masks at all times outdoors, even when you're in the middle of a huge park with no one around you. When you go into a restaurant, take you mask off and laugh and clap and shout all you want.
yep, this is the custom. It’s undeniable but you’ll get down voted for it anyways.
I think it’s fascinating that people will downvote something even when they’re telling the truth. but if people wear their masks the way you mentioned so it only makes sense to downvote. Just being consistent I guess

Life is back to normal. Happy to be living in Japan!
normal is what you make it. There are obviously a few who would disagree with you but it can’t be helped as that is self-imposed.
I feel lucky and privileged to have lived here for over 22 years and especially in the last 3. I hope it lasts.

I actually like the gradual descent rather than a sudden jump. gradual is more stable.
Some were predicting massive spikes because a golden week. Never happened.
This is a good thing.

How could the J government organize a tour so quickly?I wonder whether these tours are subsidized by the J government.
my guess is that they are heavily subsidized to the point where they are probably free for the travelers themselves

This is what happens when Joe is let 'off leash' for even a minute. He steps firmly and proudly into the doodoo, and his staff are forced to walk back his comments.
or he was actually and intentionally “let” off the leash. I don’t think many of his gaffes are actual accidents. I think there are those that are taking advantage of sleepy Joe’s sleepiness. He’s serving quite an important purpose for them at the moment but he will be quickly thrown under the bus when the time comes.

Probably not quite yet, in Europe most countries have only gotten to the point where seasonal influenza is causing more hospitalizations/deaths than covid19 just recently, and they are a few months ahead.
when I made that comment I had the Tokyo daily total of “one person hospitalized with severe symptoms” in mind.

there would probably be more flu patients hospitalized with severe symptoms than Covid patients at this point….

Actually no, most foreigners from free thinking democracies won’t be setting foot in Japan on some overpriced, stuffy tour
freethinking democracies do not exist anymore. They are just illusions.
however, “some” freethinking people do exist though. They are few in numbers though these days…

Who would pay money to do this? Not to mention having a full time babysitter with you at all times.
The kind of people who are triple vaccinated, have private insurance, won’t mind being tested 72 hours before they come and again when they arrive and don’t mind strict guided “on the leash” tours.
and weirdly, they will love it.
