Distracted driving would still be the cause of the accident. They are not supposed to happen.

Not everyone has reflexes like a cat. Accident.

And what will this end up doing? Both countries knowing exactly where the missiles hit?

Let me help you to understand. A radar can only track a missile so far. The current issue until this happens is that the missile can be tracked by SK, and then it disappears off their radar. When that happens Japan picks it up, and has to relay the info back to SK. Just a few seconds in losing and then picking up the missile can be devistating. Linking the system both countries can see the missle no matter who is tracking it.

Distracted driving...

OR, just an accident.

It sounds like he may have been going to fast, in addition to other possibilities like being distracted or intoxicated, etc.

Talk about QUICK to jump to conclusions. None of this was said in the news article. This could have been just an accident. There are many things that could have happen. No reason to bring judgement so quickly.

As part of efforts to prevent long-term detention, the government would allow individuals applying for refugee status to live outside immigration facilities under the supervision of their supporters.

This is good to hear. For some reason refugees seem to be criminalized. This should not happen. They should be able to appy once, and appeal the decision once. If they are denied they need to be deported ASAP..not held in detention. For some though, detention is even a better life than where they came from.

Look harder Kenji san...everybody else seems to see the price increases very clearly.

Hmm. I guess maybe I just don't care, and spend more but don't notice. Luckily times have never been tough for me. I guess I am above acerage then?

All while the average bloke on the street continues to suffer as prices keep rising and wages stay stagnant)

I keep hearing about rising prices, but I have not felt them. I spend the same amount I did for over 10 years and have not seen increases?

Yoshikawa said that fertilizers and feed for livestock animals form the basis of agricultural production.

You don't need to import fertilizers or feed. All you need to do is collect the cow manure and use it for fertilizer. In turn grow fields of corn to feed the cows. If you do this, the cycle continues, and no import of fertilizers is needed. I have a neighbor who grows all his own vegetables, fruit and raises his own chickens. He also raises two cows a year and rarely needs to go to the store.

Just because somebody do not share your opinion does not mean he does not know Japan or even does not live here. I have been here for ages (god know maybe longer than you) and while indeed wearing masks has long historical roots in Japan , it is obvious that pre Covid, outside of the kafunsho season, the number of Japanese wearing them was marginal.

I am not saying or meaning that at all. It is just obvious what some people say that they don't live here. Some people make statements that really show they have no clue what is going on.

If this disturbed foreign youth was shouting “It’s show time “ in Chinese or Vietnamese, the Japanese police wouldn’t have understood what he was saying. That means the suspect was an English speaker, native or acquired.

This is actually false. I know several police officers in Japan who can speak fluent English, Chinese, and Yes, Spanish.

It is always good to see countries uniting for a common goal. Now, if only the Japanese Prime Minister could attend. That would maybe help with strained relations between Japan and China.

can sort of understand the very elderly keeping up their guard, but the young? Young people on bicycles in the park still masked up. Hay fever no excuse now, just pity and shame. They will stay the rest of their lives behind a paper veil that doesn’t even work.

Why are you so bothered by what others do? In what way does this directly affect you? If you care so much why not walk up to a masked person and share your views?

Posted in: Japan lowers COVID status to same as flu in major policy shift See in context

If mask don’t go now they never will. So sad not to be able to see faces of people we talk to.

Have you lived in Japan for more than 5 years? If you have, you would know that Japanese have more masks way longer than 5 years ago...This stems back to when there was SARS outbreak in 2002. History has shown us that even back in 1950 Japanese wore maks as a safeguard against air pollution. These comments again are just proof as to who lives in Japan, who does not, and who does not know much about the history and/or culture.

Very good news. Always moving forward is a positive thing. Japan needs to worry about Japan, and not worry about what other countries think or are doing. People often forget this is Japan. This is not the UK, USA, Canada, etc.

I sure do see a lot more Maseratis, Porsches, and Lexuses these days. Make these people pay. As well as the giant corporations who got their big tax break under Abe and haven't raised wages

Because I drive a Lexus LX600 I need to pay more in taxes? How does this even make sense?

What evidence do you have of this claim? just making up something you would like to be true and using it as if it was an argument is not valid.

You are one of them...this is a FACT.

Do you know what naivite means? Do you honestly believe for a moment that if the U.S. disarmed it's nukes, autocracies like Russia (who is threatening to use them), China, North Korea etc, will follow that example?

You have missed my point. You can't expect others to do something if you are not willing to do it yourself. No Country leader is dumb enough to launch a Nuke as they all well know that is the end of humanity.

Japan is very thankful that the US is here to help us. Without the US presence there would be disasters in all of Asia.

To the person talking about the G.W. "Leaking Nuclear Radiation" into the water, you don't "leak" Nuclear Radiation into water. That is not how it works. I am Japanese and I even know how this works.

To all the Sailors, Marines, Army, etc...Thank You for protecting us while we sleep at night.

If America wants the world to give up their Nuclear Weapons, America needs to give up theirs. Encouraging others to give up Nukes so the US can be the only Nuclear Superpower will not work. Lead by example. Disarm yourself and others will follow.
