What’s the issue? It’s simply a historical festival not unlike festivals across the globe.

The below is nonsense and implies Japanese travelers to other countries should be fluent in whatever the language of whatever county or countries they travel. BTW, two of Japan's biggest athletic prides - Ichiro and Ohtani need interpreter. I guess by such logic they should never have played in the majors...

As per the guide, what's the scam? if he/she requests a reasonable amount it's no big deal.

They think tourist that just arrived in Japan really fluent in Japanese.

Slavery was a choice? Between what? Suicide and slavery?

Something is seriously wrong with his brain.

At his level of public awareness about him this should be a hate crime.

As well, as an African-American he should know better than to incite inflammatory speech.

In the end profiteers will make thousands to hundreds of thousands who scoop up all of the last production runs of those hideously ugly Yeezy shoes they can find,

These letters are testaments to an ideology, that made a major shift in Japan including opening relations with the West that in effect ended millions of lives - Japanese and non-Japanese. The letters are of great historical importance.

Strangely, however ludicrous this situation may be, why are all of you blaming the woman? While scams are frequent on various social media and dating sites this certainly is one of the most unusual request from the scammer I have ever read about.... Loneliness can lead to tragic results.

Posted in: N Korea fires 2 more ballistic missiles toward sea See in context

Kim has fired how many ballistic missiles over the past two years and the international reply is the same every time: condemnations and a few more sanctions. He is desperately backed into a corner with a nation of poverty, with the exception of the upper elite.

He isn’t seeing attention merely but, in his insanity, is perhaps looking to destroy as NK is being destroyed by him.

The yen sunk against the US dollar due to the outrageous and catastrophic launch by North Korea!

The Yen has already been weak. What kind of logic is this?

Kim is backed into a tiny corner due to sanctions. Leading a nation rife with poverty he will undoubtedly act “rashly.”

Don’t underestimate his desperation. And don’t forget he is an ally of Putin.

All of this must be stopped.

It’s a good thing to do. Cyber bullying has caused too much pain, isolation and even suicides.

Let’s hope the this leads to a significant decrease in cyber bullying.

Posted in: Japan weighs plan for ban on hotel guests without masks: report See in context

This is a smart move. Other countries have removed mask mandates as Covid was beginning to get more under control and as a result the numbers went up, not down.

Prior to the pandemic masks were quite common for PM 2.5 and Yellow Sand, albeit voluntary.

Covid is here to stay and adapting to such measures is needed- by the government or, in this case a hotel, shouldn’t need to enforce wearing masks. Common sense should, but since most of you seem to lack common sense enforcement seems to be required.

Posted in: Man arrested for abduction of 15-year-old girl he met online See in context

Japan needs to have an alert system for smartphones - in the US there is the Amber Alert. Realistically think about it: 25 year old man meets 15 year old girl on SNS. Are his intentions to rescue minors from homes where there could be any number of problems: abuse (psychological, sexual or physical), being bullied at school and various other issues. I doubt his intentions are honorable....

With an Amber Alert type system the authorities can investigate the specifics after the girl has been found. Japan in no less like any country with SNS trolls looking for young girls.
