What’s the point if this now? It’s already spread all over this small island of Japan.
Plus, how do you stop infections without stopping society? What does that even mean Yuriko? Elaborate if you can……

My city done it with 3 seats social distance (Chiba). Then after the ceremony, everyone was gathering outside in groups taking selfies, parents joining in too and everyone laughing and joking. As my friend said “what’s the point of social distancing inside when not one person is doing it outside?”

If they were accepting foreigners for a ministerial position. I’d take that. That’s a great job that. Great pay, never have to make decisions, can sleep in the Diet meetings, lie about data and make mistakes and never get fired. Little backhanders here and there and a little tax evasion……maybe everyone is quitting their jobs to land a government job!

Even If it was consensual, it’s going to be hard to prove that without evidence, like if they had exchanged mails etc. I hope they can get to the bottom of this, but it would seem his word against hers.
Seems strange she let him in for a quickie whilst he was working though.

Unless it’s over a few hundred, then I wouldn’t bother reporting this anymore. Most of the population are vaccinated and masked up. There will always be a couple of cases but that’s to be expected. Surely we can’t keep reporting these low numbers forever?
I have been highly critical of the government for a long time but I’m not sure, apart from getting boosters out there, what more they can do?

No sympathy for the driver here at all. What a selfish, inconsiderate person to leave someone suffering in pain at the side of the road because he wasn’t man enough to stop and admit guilt. Hope the victim can make a full recovery and get some serious compensation from the coward driver.

What’s a 90 year old man 1. driving at that age, and 2. trying to stop a shoplifter? Tell the supermarket guards and let them deal with it. They have insurance. If an accident happens outside the supermarket, the victim (legally) can sue (which is absurd in its own right).
Its not attempted murder. The shoplifter is as much to blame as the old man.

Japanese media are saying two detected cases of the new variant has been found in Gunma and also Okinawa. Two cases out of how many millions? Surely it’s time for the government to stop using COViD as an excuse to stop people from living their lives. Yes, be cautious…..but this is just ridiculous now.

A lawyer friend told me that when police stop you, you are allowed to ask a few things before answering anything or showing ID.
Their names and badge numbers
Why they are stopping youApparently, one office can not stop you alone. There needs to be two officers. That being said, it’s sometimes easier to just get it over and done with.

Whether people like it or not. Japan is very slowly becoming a little more dangerous. It’s still incredibly safe compared to other countries, but we shouldn’t compare ourselves to them. We should look at how the last ten years has seen an increase in hit and runs, random beating on the streets, attacks on trains and at stations and stabbings. Just got to be more vigilant these days. Less time looking at your screen and more time looking around you!
