100% totally agree with that statement.

One would think the police would start with any missing persons reports that resembled the girl (age, location, etc.) Though, I don't believe I have read about any recently in the news. In fact, other than small children, I can hardly remember reading ANY missing persons reports here. Weird. Perhaps Japan should adopt something similar to the AMBER ALERT the States has...

"Utter hogwash. The victim didn't take any vows; A completely legal, consenting relationship between adults is just that. "

Dinking another man's wife...he ought to have at least his balls cut out. If you don't believe in the sanctity of marriage, that's your prerogative. But don't go ruining it for someone who does. That's plain selfish. And she ought to feel the punishment as well. Society sucks worldwide anymore. Bunch of selfish children...

@Brainiac

I disagree with you about how long he will be incarcerated. I say it will be paltry at best.

Be that as it may, that was my mistake about him being sent back into society with another name. I believe that just goes for minors here. A law I whole-heartedly disagree with as well.

He will do a scant amount of time, be "rehabilitated", then sent back into society under another name and address to hunt again. Meanwhile, innocent citizens somewhere out there will have not idea, thus be unable to take precautions to protect their children. Nice.

Japan 1,000%.

I've lived in both - there is absolutely NO comparison.

For those that say they have either lived in or been to (merely been to really doesn't count though) both, and that they are not all that different, I'm sure that is because they stayed in their own gaijin bubble and never really, truly experienced both counties - i.e. culture, food, daily life, daily interaction with locals. I have. (And hanging out at Mahoolagins or The Red, White, and B-B-Q every night doesn't count.)

Japan 1,000%.

That had to be a heavy suitcase - especially for typical station J-dudes. Didn't they kind of suspect something was amiss when they most likely had to get 2 or 3 of them to move it?

cleoMAR. 16, 2015 - 08:08AM JST Really hate the term Half

But it isn't half (an English word), it's haafu, a Japanese word. The only negative connotations are in the mind of the individual.

Couldn't agree more! People are too thin-skinned anymore. Everyone's offended, everyone's a victim.

Blech!

Donna PesaniJAN. 27, 2015 - 07:32PM JST This should more accurately be 'What do a few elderly, mostly male, retired Japanese think about the hostage crisis'. I don't think this is a very diverse sampling of actual Japanese opinion on the situation.

There is an OVERWHELMING ratio of black men killing white people to white cops killing unarmed black men. OVERWHELMING. Where is the unrest there? Where is the media spin? Where is the outrage? Nowhere. Because this is PC America - turning into PC world. Too afraid to confront the truth, and instead, vomit excuses and scapegoats.

Hell, most blacks killed in the US, are killed by other blacks. Why are they not outraged and protesting against all the black crime leading to all those deaths of innocent black women and children, and all those incarcerations of blacks?

Think I'm a racist liar? I'm neither. Look up the facts; you'll see. Give me thumbs down if you want; but don't bury your head in the sand away from statistical truths.

Okay, I'm ready now - label me a racist. I'm white and I speak the truth, so I must be. Welcome to the new world.
