Posted in: Woman in wheelchair dies after being hit by drunk driver in Gifu See in context

I see those motor operated wheel chairs everywhere here in the US and always wonder, it would be so easy to hit one of those. People use them as cars. They will go as far as to a Walmart that is miles from where they live using the side of the road for emergency stops as their road. Also, going up hill. I think they are too dangerous. I don't think they were meant for what many people use them for.

Who knows what the issue or reason could be???? Could anything. His actions do not give us a clue. The fact that they are always children maybe because it is convenient. You see them everywhere and they stand out in those uniforms. Doubt whoever gave the reason that "because they are cute." Might not be the first time he's done this either.

Why do parents put their lives and their kids lives in danger when "if" she did fall asleep. To drive in that condition with a child in tow. Now the child is motherless. What a shame.

Don't pound on it until you've tried it is what I say. I'm not a Mcdonald's junky but I do like their fries. I'd have to go adn try it before I can say anything good or bad about the place. Sounds liek some of you ahven't even tried the place and already you are giving it a bad review.

Oh no! watch out for grandma on the wheel chair or grandpa on the walker. I know this isn't a joke but the title of these articles sometimes you can't help it.

I think this is the only country in the world that can say this. However, after all the articles I have read on JT it sure looks liek it.

Posted in: The day Japan’s netizens turned news on its head See in context

I would say they have a no shame attitude or lack of respect for the people undergoing such misery than a lack of empathy. Now having said that by the sheer lack of what I just mentioned, it does show a lack of empathy. They are so high on what's going on that they care less about the people than what they will get out of taking footage of the incident. Sorry, but I would say a lack of empathy is fair play here in describing such people. Even if it was only for that moment. Do you just leave that behind for being one of the first to post on a blog, MySpace, or YouTube? Not a chance. It is that bad side of humanity showing through. And this is not just Japanese people.

Posted in: Woman arrested for fatally stabbing husband in Shizuoka See in context

We don't know the full story so stop with "he had another woman." Geez, not all men cheat. If he's a truck driver he may be working late hours. Either way, she was way out of control. Stabbing someone over being late is so trivial a reason. I'd hate to think what people do here for real crimes of cheating, beating, and etc...

Poor guy!

Posted in: What does Japan need to do in order to attract more tourists? See in context

realist perhaps there maybe Japanese who do not want to dela with tourist but that doesn't mean they are racist. You obviously do not know what that word means. People here in the US misuse them all the time. Racist is a political term and implies "Hatred." Disliking something or someone does not mean that they hate them.

As a tourist i ahve had no issues with Japanese people. People have been friendly to me.

I'd say they should be work towards haveing more accomodating Restaurants. Sometimes you feel like you cannot walk into one because of the language barrier. If they had signs welcoming foreigners with foreign language menus would be a great start. You could just point to what you want without having to have someone speak your native language.

Look's romantic. However, I wonder how much electricity is being used for this. As far as the global warming comments...who cares???? Nature puts out far much more emissions that is the real cause of global warming (geological, chemical, and physical) a "naturally" occuring cycle that happens from time to time.

The news articles always make it a point to point out "Many of them westerners" type comments whenever they can distibguish non-Japanese people. However, by that mere comment you know that there were many Japanese as well. Next they will say "They've been corrupted by westerners." Like I hear many Asians say when their kids act unruly.

Posted in: Japan's burgeoning class: Working poor See in context

Adding to the posters experiences here; I too came from a poor family being raised by my dad's mother and sister. My grandmother used to make me my clothes for school. I almost fell after high school because I had no guidance. My aunt only had a 3rd grade education but one thing they did teach me is to work hard and discipline. I eventually began working at hospital after losing my mediocore job and doctors in training there somehow saw some potential in me. They incouraged me to go back to school and I did. I took some loans and finished. Now I have a Master's Degree in Geology and work for an oil/gas company. It was hard but I can say I'm the first in my family that has done it. I still have debt but I can afford to pay it with no ones help adn I am saving for retirement. I may have started later than most in the professional career path but I feel I am fortunate. That is one good thing about the American System, at any point in your life you have access to colleges and some assistance no matter your background. Japan can surely benefit by having a similar system.

I feel sorry for how desperate some fo these folks fee.

What government does when they give too many handouts is that they create a lazy society. People do not appreciate what they have and therefore do not contribute much.

You mean Obama right???? Look at all the bad associations he has had over the course of his life. Radical thinkers that just create chaos and hatred. He's more the racist than he thinks.

Thsi is just another one of Obama's stategies to gain sympathy, sad!!!!

His distasteful comments on our constitution is offensive. The same constitution that allowed the civil rights movement to prevail. Slavery at the time was all over the world not just in the US; whatever some of you might think. This constitutional document is the reason this country is great. I'm a so called minority and am very proud of what our founding fathers set forth many years ago that has allowed for change to happen. A flexible document that stands the test of time. They foresaw the needs of the future. You tell me what country out there has a better one. There is none. Capitalism works and not Socialism. To think of Socialism while there are countries out there that are still wanting to become the big dog is stupid. Not to mention that the very foundation of our constitution does not support it.

I think those are hilarious, how could I possibly see them as superheros.

Come on...Christopher Reeves=Superman???? Not a chance! He only played the character; Superman is a comic superhero. He could be anybody. the same goes foe Batman and Wonder Woman. I have to admit, we have cool looking super heros. They have been long lasting and reinvented and people still love them. Who doesn't want to be like them.

Running away is always bad=involunatry manslaughter. I think the premise is that you would most likely try to save the guys life or call the police by which the guy may have had a chance of survival. Running away leaves him to die.

Poor guy, hopefully he was so drunk he didn't feel a thing.

I don't care if a politicain is beautiful or not. It's the brains and her actions that dictate whether she is fit. If she begins to neglect that duty then out with her. You have to admit, most pretty girls are so self absorbed that maybe this DVD cover thing has worried people that she is begining on that road.
