"Gemuchenja" - Covid 19's new gobal, more tranmissible, mutation strain 501.V2 from South Africa and the UK variant B.1.1.7 are particularly concerning.

Every once in a while, a virus strikes it lucky by mutating in a way that positively affects its ability to survive and reproduce.This has occurred over the past few weeks with Covid 19.

In my very humble opinion, judging by all your comments, if the JGovt and people's behaviour is inadequate now, then the arrival of these two strains into Japan will be deeply worrisome.

CT scans reveal that sumo wrestlers don't have much visceral fat.

Instead, they store most of their fat right underneath the skin.

That's why scientists think sumo wrestlers are 'healthy'.

They have normal levels of triglycerides, a type of fat in their blood, and unexpectedly low levels of cholesterol, both of which lower their risk of heart disease, heart attack, and stroke; but as soon as high levels of exercise stops, so does its benefits.

[Homes for the elderly were also low down the pecking order for personal protective equipment, as authorities scrambled to meet the demand from hospitals.]

Is this also happening in Japan ??...

@savethegaijin

Yes, "New Zealand has an extremely small population", however it has dedicated itself to going hard and going early against Covid-19, thanks to the lead of her women Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern.

This might be why New Zealand is the only Western country that has a chance to ERADICATE Covid-19, instead of just containing and managing it, until a vaccine is developed.

If the current 'Lockdown' succeeds, then stringent social distancing measures can be eased.

Life can return to something approaching normal, even with boarders closed, or entry into the country severely curtailed.

It is a team of 5 million people.

By itself, the Covid-19 virus does not come with stigma or discrimination attached.

Two impacts ride with it; Health and Economic.

The 'old normal' will not return, instead get ready for a 'new normal'...
