Ohtani a bust? Seriously? We’ll see what happens to him as a pitcher but in his first two years as a batter he hit 40 home runs and batted .286. Hardly a bust. Why so negative?

Toshiko, seriously you need to write more clearly. I understand that English is not your first language but obviously Trump (!!) did not hit a home run for the Angels. Also, periods go at the end of sentences. That said, go Ohtani!

Jeez, Toshiko, give it a rest.

I can understand the English mistakes a bit, Toshiko. But how can you get Mike Socia's name right and mispell Darvish in two different ways in the same post?

I've never been a fan of Pete but he has a point.

He's a great player with a hall-of-fame career but this manufactured record is going a bit too far. A record that includes his time in Japan is not valid.

Was happy to hear that Old Navy would come to Japan only to discover when they opened that they only carried mens clothes up to size L. For an XL to XXL tall guy like me that meant that I could buy nothing in the store. :-(

Zzebras can be ridden. There is a guy that teaches people how. Cute dumb animals. RIP

Actually they can't be ridden. This will tell you why: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMpMxaX3Kdg

Posted in: Yomiuri Giants executives to resign over gambling scandal See in context

It's weird the way they use the word "owner" in Japanese baseball. I remember when he resigned as owner of the Giants. Usually that would mean that he actually owned the team and would then sell them to someone else but the way they used the term made it sound like just another position in the company. Either way this guy is the Dick Cheney of baseball.

Posted in: Tabloid dissects Halloween's 'unnatural popularity' See in context

"Although unrelated to Halloween, the popularity of “danceable” popular songs by Tetsuya Komuro in the late 1990s and Hikaru Utada from the beginning of the century—both periods of economic slumps, may confirm this theory."

Yes, because danceable songs were never popular during other eras in Japan. :-( YMO and other artists might have a problem with this assumption. Also, I believe Komuro's popular was more from early to mid 90s, not late-90s.

This article sounds like a student that was assigned a topic (Halloween) and he had to make a deadline no matter what.

"Even though Japan lost, the fact remains; Japan and USA ended with identical World Cup wins/loses at 6-1."

Actually no Richard. The US finished 6-0-1 (WLT) and Japan finished 6-1-0. The US did not lose any games.

The article is a bit misleading. It is the Prince Rabbits last appearance in this tournament which takes place after the Asia League regular season and before their playoffs begin.

Actually the Prince Rabbits still have the Asia League playoffs to look forward to so if you can, catch a game. Also, the rabbit logo is thankfully not pink.
