Stephen King made riding a tricycle villanous. A three year old child on a toy, a pscho-killer on the loose.

I cannot see a child on a "big wheel" without feeling the chill.

In California my nephew noticed a ring in the sky around the sun, on a very hot day with no clouds. Much of California goes without precipation for months during part of the year, and that year was especially so. I told him it was ice in the upper atmosphere.

He was just a kid then, and did not believe me. Of course, now he has a PhD ...

It is not about attraction. It is a pathological "upper hand" or social dominance satisfaction. It takes many forms. Thre are very much living breathing females that could do something patholgogical to this guy. Unfortunately it is not interesting unless it is someone helpless or innocent. The perfect victim.

Posted in: China warns North Korea; blames Japan for tension See in context

@Dukuleto, interesting history lesson.

My wife lives in Ulaanbaatar. While I would not argue the 13th Century History of China, I would like to point out that Chinese and Mongolian are quite different. The Yuan dynasty wes pushed north, to where it came from. Later, the Qing dyansty would be the last (?) emperor, also from north of the Great Wall built to keep the northern barbarians at bay. They were Manchurians. Like Koreans and Japanese, Manchurians and Mongols are diffrenet from Chinese.

It was a good history lesson post, though. Thanks because it interests me.

Posted in: Japan votes for Mr and Ms in Maritime Self-Defense Force popularity poll See in context

Watch the video.

The image of the cable connected to the instructor's hand-gun shows this was a training tool. Law Enforcement used a similar tool that would project on a screen, 20 years ago. Yes it is serious, and no, that cable is not going to actually kill anyone. It seems real to the student, though, and that is its purpose. He is probably the winner.

The last one is the best, in my opinion. She uses semaphore, bugle signals, and genuine maritime flags. Very important military skills, although not really going to put anyone to death if she does not make a mistake herself.

Posted in: Malaysian court rules use of 'Allah' exclusive to Muslims See in context

If "Allah" is being used respectfully, then what is the problem? It makes not sense when it is said out of respect, even if a person does not know the Quran or much of anything about Islam.

When hostages were being held in the middle east, their captors brought a cake and sang "Happy Birthday Jesus" on Christmas Day. While they were international criminals, singing "Happy Birthday Jesus" and having a cake was certainly not meant to blaspheme anyone or anything. Or was it?

It depends. A long face, or rather a face with lenght dimensions, might not look good with straight long hair, or at least not without some curves. On the other hand, a round face might not get any help from hair as much from a smile.

Posted in: Teacher questioned for failing to stop bullying that resulted in student's suicide See in context

The problem with education is the student is sometimes far smarter than the teacher. Not wiser, Higher ability to learn than the teacher is difficult.

At 17 years old, teaching 12 year old boys was not for me. I went to college the next year, placed into "Teacher's College." I quit the college and found another job.

Those kids were relentless. I could not handle them. Today, with the social technology it would be far more difficult.
