Autobahn gas stations have people going in/out all the time. Simply ask to borrow someone's phone. Eventually someone is going to let you use theirs. I personally don't have a problem. I've got unlimited minutes on my T-Mobile Deutschland phone.

Get the normal Windows 8 tablet, not the Windows 8 RT tablet. Problem solved. Course, double the price, if you want to get away from the Intel Atom processors and get into an i3 or i5.

I use a Windows 8 Enterprise tablet. Best of both worlds. Load up all my normal Windows programs, so I can do all my work. At home, I dock it and it connects up to my keyboard and mouse. Undock it, when I'm on the go. Use the touchscreen for everything, unless I really need to sit down and start typing. That's when I just pull out my bluetooth keyboard and type away.

I had an Acer A500 Android tablet before, it was simply way too limited to be used as anything more than just a websurfing device and toy. I'd imagine the iPad would be the same. You're just with, what I liked to call, half-apps from their respective stores. They're built so you can have basic functionality, but not built big enough to really get any work done.

My tablet is an Acer W700, but I upgraded to a larger SSD and reloaded it with Windows 8 Enterprise. Windows 8 Home is just crap. I'm in IT and I need the Enterprise features, for some of the testbedding I do.

This isn't anything new. Pretty much every single PC game gets registered to some type of account and the sale isn't possible without selling the whole acct. That or it lacks online features without spending more money to get the online features back (Bioware does this).

I think most times people complain about a broken Dell, it's an issue that isn't their fault. Like the faulty Nvidia graphics that was hitting all the manufacturers. Only Dells I see breaking at work (which is around 2000 users, each with 2 computers) are the really old 5+ year ones. Oh, and the ones that ppl toss under their desk and keep kicking, which ends up destroying the hdd.

I like Dell machines. Would I buy one? Not a desktop, as I build my own, but I would for a laptop. If they put out something I wanted. I'd lean more towards Alienware, which is essentially a Dell anyways. My last job, I was using a Dell Precision T7500. Dual quad-core Xeons (with hyper-threading) and 32gig of memory. Awesome machine and I wish I had it, cause my current Dell Optiplex 760 is so slow.

American government can demand access to data on any servers owned by an American company. Whether those servers are in foreign lands or not. It's called the Patriot Act.

IBM was awesome and then Lenovo took over. I figured that'd just ruin the brand, but Lenovo has been doing a very good job. They still have solid Thinkpads, but some of the Thinkpads that spawned out after Lenovo took over don't feel as solid. Still good machines though.

I can play a game to play a game. If I'm just playing the same small section of a game over and over again trying to find bugs, ya. I'd quit too.

I don't think staying on the cutting edge is as necessary for PCs. Yes, when it comes to smartphones and tablets, it's best to keep throwing out faster and faster products, when it comes to PCs, no one really even knows anymore.

PCs are quick and most users won't notice the difference between a quad-core i5 and a six-core i7. What they will notice is when you have bad customer support. It's impossible to make an electronic product that is flawless, so you better have some awesome customer support to go along with it.

It's in MS's best interest that Dell doesn't go bankrupt. That's less sales of Windows. Even if no one were to buy Dell computers, Dell would still be buying copies of Windows for their machines.

I have an Inspiron 5000e laptop that I bought in 2001. It still works today, although the floppy drive broke and the battery doesn't hold a charge. The thing still boots up and runs like the day I bought it.

I've never had a problem with my Dell Inspiron, Everex Stepnote, Alienware m11x, HP TM2T, or Acer W700. The only laptop/tablet I've had issues with so far has been my HP Envy 17. They used crappy thermal paste for the cpu/gpu and they globbed a lot of it on. All the threads I read on it, repair service ends up doing the same shoddy work. I just pulled it apart last week and scrapped all the thermal paste off and used a thin layer of Arctic Silver 5. No issues now.

I'm more inclined to blame users for their PC headaches, except during the "desktop P4s crammed into a laptop" era. Those simply ran too hot and killed themselves.

Read the iCloud TOS. That link you posted zichi, is the exact same thing that can happen on iCloud.

None of this is anything new and it's been the standard TOS for pretty much all online services in general for the past couple of years. It's like arguing that the Earth is flat.

46 gb use is probably the OS with full blown Office. Like every piece of Office available, which majority will never use things like Access, Infopath, Lync, etc. Course, I have no idea what version of Office is going to be dumped on the thing. If it comes with Office Professional Plus, fully installed, I'm surprised it'd only be 46 gb used for OS and Office.

I wiped my 128 gb Acer W700 and installed Win 8 Enterprise and Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook). Didn't even go over 20 gb. I still plan to swap my 128 gb mSATA SSD with a 256 gb one. I put too much stuff on my tablet.

If you think free software compares to MS Office, then you don't use all the features of Office. I wouldn't even think about using anything outside of Office, when I was writing my technical documents as an engineer.

It's not illegal. There are certain jobs, that requires a specific set of standards to be met. Because of this, they can discriminate.

If popularity drops, they can drop you. If you can no longer sing, they can drop you. If you can no longer dance, they can drop you. If you dated someone and they find out, they can drop you. Being an idol is hardly a standard job.

Do I feel the management company is out of line? No. They are catering to a set of fans that like to imagine their idols to be pure or whatever it is they are viewing them as. If they don't have that, then their popularity declines and then they just become dead weight for your company.

That's rather unfair. In the history of 20th century (and now 21st century) popular music, America is second to none. The British punch well above their weight, and are the only serious rivals, but the Yanks have got the breadth and the depth. You could spend a lifetime in American musical traditions, and not even begin to scratch the surface of what's there. You could even just pick a region of the States - Texas, say - and find a vast amount of music to explore. In some countries, people have just got music in their bones. Korea isn't one of them. Or Japan.

Korean music has been mostly influenced by American music. It's just the way things go, when you have the largest collection of Americans in the Pacific (outside of Hawaii/Guam). Good beats, gibberish lyrics or the same 3 spoken lines over and over again. I was listening to a song by Sistar19 and my Korean buddy translated it to me. It sounds great, but once you learn the lyrics, you're just completely turned off.

Sure, it has no problem playing any videos, after conversion to meet the lower specs of the iPad or iPhone. Also why not send 5.1 audio to a device that has HDMI out, where I can hook it up to my friend's home theatre setup, so we can watch our movies?

Also a good set of usb stereo headphones with the virtual surround comes out very nicely. Not so nicely with non-5.1 audio. Course, why bother with the iPad or iPhone, when neither support usb stereo headphones anyways.

Yep, just requires you to buy a $7 app to support subtitles. It's still not going to properly play high bitrate videos, cause the hardware is lacking. All the software in the world isn't going to make up for crappy Arm based processors.

I love how people think taking away guns will somehow magically reduce crime rates. If someone wants to kill someone, they will find a way to kill someone. Guns or not. Japan having tight restrictions doesn't seem to stop people from knifing others, running them down with cars, etc.

Just look at famous Japanese massacres. Think only one involved a gun and they revoked his gun license. He used a gun, sword, and axe. Most others were just knives.

Think you need to read the article again, since Gizmodo themselves say that the Galaxy S3 and Nexus 4 are awesome (essentially what they said). Then they go to say that the much cheaper phones are making a killing. Well duh, do we need an article to show that users would rather save a buck or two, wherever they can.

Seeing the sheer number of Galaxy S3 sales, that doesn't seem to be the case all the time though. I can easily afford an unlocked 64 gig iPhone 5, but I don't buy one. I bought a $500 LG G2x 16 gig model. I just bought a $400 Sharp SH7218U 512 meg model to replace it. It's actually way worse than my LG G2x by a lot. I bought a $600 Acer A500 tablet 16 gig model, when it was new. It's now $350ish. I chose to go this route, cause it's the most open of the bunch. I don't like being locked down into something.
