@Slickdrifter

Yawn. Go show off your weapons knowledge somewhere. We don't want to be involved in any war. Most Japanese oppose this useless spending. I wish war-loving US would stop selling arms. Ugh. Disgusting.

@Fuzzy

What you don't know is that you have no idea what you are talking about. Your calculations prove it. You are thinking linearly. Do a little googling to learn about exponential growth and R0, then come back and let's have an intelligent conversation.

R0 is only tells how contagious a virus is. It is just a mere measuring unit. Is it as fatal? I doubt so. There's no evidence of it being more fatal than the past outbreaks we have had.

Mask does help prevent the spread of bodily fluids during accidental sneezing and coughing.

Wear protective goggles, wash your hands, gargle water with a little bit of salt or baking soda. Most of all, wash your hands habitually. Need to wash eyes with soap too for maximum protection ;).

@kurispisu so if you got colds once you cannot get it again? You do right? Also, viruses mutates. The reason why a flu shot cannot guard you against all sorts of flu.

@daito_hak There are many kinds of Flu. There are avian and swine flu which has a higher mortality rate than the new coronavirus. It is contagious but hardly as fatal as its older brother SARS-CoV which has almost 10% mortality rate.

It is highly likely there were more flu deaths than coronavirus deaths in the same timespan.

Back in 2019, there were 5 elderlies dead in one nursing home due to Flu outbreak. It had the same modus as coronavirus, death by pneumonia and other complications. That is just one nursing home, imagine the deaths nationwide.
