I'm surprised that no one even considers the flagrant overconsumption of electricity that these so called wonderful modern toilets use and the concomitant carbon and possible radioactive pollution from power plants that are the result of using those over electrified monsters. Architects can design buildings with sufficient air circulation so you don't have to air condition your public toilets or you can just suffer from the heat for the very few minutes you use the facilities. Hiring more cleaners for more frequent cleaning would be a great and natural resources saving solution. And also, hand soap and alcohol disinfectant hand spray would be great.

Sonet's "nuro-something-or other-whatchamacallit" service is 5-7 Gb. Unfortunately it can only be installed up to a second floor of a building. I'm on the 3rd floor > <

I don't know what all the kafuffle is about. I've only used Apple's map app here in Japan, but every time I've used it, it's worked just fine. In fact, for walking directions I far prefer it to Google maps. I use a dedicated train app anyway as it gives me many more optional routes and schedules than Google does. I also have a Japanese navigation in my car (never use the voice function - I hate machines that talk www). Mind you I can read kanji.

Certainly we should encourage environmentally friendly bicycling. I've found that there are invariably safe and almost car free side roads that I can take to get almost anywhere. Even if it takes a few extra minutes to reach my destination, that's more than compensated for by the absence of diesel fumes and reduced stress.

A meltdown at a nuclear power plant would lead to more carnage than a puny atomic bomb. There was darned near a meltdown at Fukushima Dai Yon, and it's roof is only a major quake away from collapsing and causing exactly that. How many of you nuke apologists would want a plant in YOUR backyards??? If you would, land is pretty cheap in the affected area. Let's see you put your money where your mouths are. As for the concomitant increase in fossil fuel power sources, that's been estimated at a modest 2.5%. Let's get off our rear end heating bidet toiiets etc. and get behind some serious conservation and production of renewables

As I understand it, there are only 5 of the total of 50+ reactors currently on line. We seem to be getting along just fine without the ridiculous over supply. There is even MORE usage conservation possible and it's not that big a leap to eliminate them all and switch to other sources. For example, I was really happy to see them installing solar panel powered street lamps in my Setagaya neighborhood. This is indeed within our means to accomplish.

Definitely extend and INCREASE the green car subsidy. Some  compensation should be made to dwellers of rural areas. As for those of you bitchin' about paying taxes, why don't you opt out of the national health insurance, road maintenance etc. programs and then try paying for services that the the gov't subsidizes or pays for outright, including paving the roads you use directly from your own constipated pockets?

It would help if the d-heads would use their bells. I can't count the # of times some idiot racing along at hi speed, or even someone on -char has almost hit me. If the typical non thinking person taught to give a GENTLE ring of the bell it would eliminate the vast majority of the 2,000+ accidents.
