Why do the Japan keep spending billions and billions of Yen on weapons? Let the your American overlords defend you, they have over 126 bases in Japan to do it. Stop buying weapons, spend that money on the people.

Posted in: A-bomb film event makes call for unity ahead of G7 Hiroshima summit See in context
As a 23yr old German woman I recently watched a video of the bombings of all over Japan. The devastation was horrendus, The US command had a panel of men to decide which cities to use the nuclear bombs on and there was a list of about 10. Tokyo was on the list but when shown arial pictures of what was supposed to be the city, there was nothing there, it was completely gone. They decided on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and we all know what happened there after, the Japanese surrender. Wars do not start for no reason, there is always an under lying grievance, and I include the the war in Europe at the same time. There were a lot of grievances between the US and Japan before the war started, and some will say it was because of US provocations, and the same goes for Europe, between different nations here. I am at the moment studying US history and it is not pleasant, and let no one be under the illusion that the US is a democracy, it is not and never has been.

Even I know, living in the EU, that if the republicans failed to raise the debt ceiling, millions of jobs will be lost in the US, thousands of business's would go bust, and the dollar would cease to be the world currency. The present debt levels were the result of one man, Trump, backed up by his stupid followers in the senate and house and the country at large.

Wow!..so many negative comments here. If I were to judge the Japanese people on these alone i would say the vast majority of them do not want an imperialist monarchy. I am from the EU and not a monarchist, they are out dated and the British one especially is far too expensive. I read about King's annual income in a British paper earlier, it is staggering, and most of the people do not know about it because it is all hidden away by paperwork. But If Japan must send anyone to the Kings coronation it should be the Emperor and Princess and not some corrupt politician.

The USA does not recognize Taiwan as an independent country, and I think there are only 6/7 around the world who do. So if they did choose to defend them, who are they defending them from? It would be like Texas declaring independence, no country would recognize them...except Russia, China...etc. But if it came to a war between Texas and the USA, Texas would be on its own, very much like Taiwan will be.

Very disturbing, and disgusting, and humane treatment by those in the immigration centre. What this poor woman was made to suffer was tantamount to torture, there is no other word for it. Sadly, I read many stories like this from around the world, where immigration officers act like gods with little or no consequences for the treatment or deaths they cause, because they are acting for their governments.

A lot of countries have sex offenders lists, but they in no way cover the countless thousands who slip under the radar. This is a worldwide problem, where so many men think and do what they like to young girls and women. The chances of wiping out worldwide misogyny and sex offenders is zero. Sorry, but that is the truth.

Then tax anyone owning more than one gun, like $10,000 per gun. Now introduce stringent medical pysch tests to evaluation each prospective owner, compulsory training...and a few more i am trying to think of.

That's most likely what the charges will be about.
Then it’s a low level misdemeanor past the statute of limitations and we move on.
It is not past the statute of limitations, it occurred in 2016. But according to NY state law if the defendant is not resident in that state for the majority of the time the crime remains on the books. And we know Trump was not in NY much during his presidency, he was in Washington or playing golf or visiting places around the world. He probably went there a handful of times, so the crime is still on their books.
