A Repub history of inaction and incompetence on immigration...

Failure #1: Republicans could have supported the comprehensive immigration reform bill of 2013 - it passed the Repub Senate, but Ryan wouldn't bring it to the floor for a vote because far right Repubs would have voted it down - a fix that could have prevented this "emergency" was lost - Repubs fault.

Failure #2: Repubs had the White House and both sides of Congress for two years, and did absolutely nothing on immigration - they didn't anticipate the increase at the border and did nothing to put in place more ICE, more judges, more facilities - a complete failure to govern.

Failure #3: Trump has been President for two years and three months - he has done nothing. As the country's Chief Executive, he should have led the response to this effort - all he's done is spread lies (Mexico will pay for the wall) and shut down the government for the longest period in history. This all happened "on his watch" - he did nothing to foresee it and take any action - the same criticism he said of President Bush and Sept 11 2001.

We are at where we are today on immigration because of more than two years of Trump and Repub inaction and incompetence.

The responsibility lies clearly with them.

@lincoln

Besides the typical msm liberal media narrative, what does that have to do with Omar and her incendiary remarks, keep them focused on Omar, no platitudes please? I’m sincerely curious.

@Bass

I'm sorry you can't understand the link between Rep Omar's faith and Trump's continual demonization of Muslims. It's a limitation I've found common in most Trumpers...

He insists to this day that “thousands” of Muslims in New Jersey were celebrating on rooftops when the towers fell, which is a widely discredited and debunked claim.

Trump's claim true or false?

What a joke - Trump and his supporters faux outrage over some comments taken out of context in a 20 minute speech.

When he have The Donald doing the following;

Since the day of the attack itself, Trump has used 9/11 as a way to enrich and promote himself. In a radio interview just hours after the attack happened, Trump claimed that with the towers destroyed he now had the tallest building in downtown Manhattan (he did not). According to a New York Daily News investigation, his company also collected $150,000 in funds meant to support small businesses, despite his building taking no damage and being nearly a mile away from the site of the World Trade Center. While first responders were dealing with health problems after pulling bodies from the rubble, the billionaire real estate developer gladly scammed six figures off of the attack.

Since entering politics, Trump’s doubled down on exploiting the event, and usually he couples it with attacks on Muslims. He insists to this day that “thousands” of Muslims in New Jersey were celebrating on rooftops when the towers fell, which is a widely discredited and debunked claim. Despite this, he says that he saw it on the news and it was “widely covered," even though there's no evidence of any broadcasts with footage or reporting to back him up.

And one more example of what we reap when we elect a serial liar, con-man, and someone with the understanding of a fifth grader.

I'm not sure Trump is smart enough to even understand he is endangering Rep Omar's life with these dangerous tweets.

But it's a fact - his white supremacist, immigrant-hating base just cheer him on.

Nothing but a serial liar and con-man...a failed reality TV star

Failed? Not at all, the ratings were through the roof. If it weren’t for Trump, NBC would’ve been even lower in the Dumps then they are now. But seriously, get over it, liberals need to man up, the name calling doesn’t mean anything. Sure, I think the Democrats are worse than the mafia, but I can’t get rid of them....I’ll let them hang their own necks, so now they want to get Trump’s taxes, good luck, as it looks now, they’ll probably never see the ink on it, BUT at least they can never give in to their impulsive and inquisitive nature to peruse this like the Russian hoax. Try and get the taxes and keep chasing rabbits and we will watch the WH slip your grasps once again.

First, notice no mention of the topic of the post - that Trump said multiple times that he'd release his tax returns. That's the typical Trumper dodge...

And on another thread, this poster said Trump's success as an entertainer was reason enough for him to be President. That's their thinking - not experience, not intellect, not integrity - just he's "entertaining"...

Democrats are the biggest gift to Trump’s second term. Lol

Oh no, that would be all the supporters he has conned...maybe some of the illegals he employs at his properties will vote for him too...

Trump May 2014: "If I decide to run for office, I'll produce my tax returns, absolutely," he said. "And I would love to do that."

Trump Feb 2015: Trump told radio host Hugh Hewitt that he would "certainly show tax returns if it was necessary."

Trump Oct 2015: Trump said in an interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos that he was considering releasing his tax returns.

Trump Jan 2016: Trump told NBC's Chuck Todd that he had "very big returns." Asked if he would release them publicly, Trump said, "we're working on that now." "I have very big returns, as you know, and I have everything all approved and very beautiful and we'll be working that over in the next period of time, Chuck," Trump said. "Absolutely."

Trump Feb 2016: Trump appeared again on Hewitt's radio program and said of his returns, "we'll get them out at some point, probably."

You are doing to me exactly what Sen. Again, I didn’t say or demonize ANY illegal alien. For the record, I was talking about MS-13 and No, I will never give these violent thugs any respect, I had to deal with them once and these people are the worst of the worst even for Mexican Drug Cartel standards and that’s saying a lot. That’s who I’m talking about, specifically.

The only one doing anything to you are your own words...

Just bring up the fact that Trump, Ryan, and McConnell did nothing for two years on immigration and you're guaranteed to get a dodge.

The Democrats were never serious, even when Trump tried to legalize almost 2 million DACA recipients and they still didn’t want to give him money for any wall, so why should the President give in to their demands? The DACA recipients are already here and going nowhere. They can wait.

Well, thanks again - you just proved my comment that Trumpers always a dodge when you bring up 2 years of Repub inaction...

His words - Sept 11 happened on his watch so Bush is responsible. Same now.

Trump is a 25 watt bulb in a 100 watt world..

This statement has no basis in reality.

*Donald Trump, our country's greatest orator since Yosemite Sam, found himself absolutely hornswoggled today as he attempted to pronounce a simple three-syllable word multiple times. Speaking with reporters about the Mueller Report, which he has erroneously claimed completely exonerates him, Trump said that he hoped Congressional leaders turned their attention to the origins of the investigation. Oh, excuse me, to the oranges of the investigation. "I hope they now go and take a look at the oranges. The oranges of the, uh, uh, investigation,"*

Trump is a chess master while the Dems are still struggling with checkers.

Trump is a 25 watt bulb in a 100 watt world...

But the rhetoric you hear from Trump and his supporters is hardly that - "invasion", "MS-13", "terrorists"...

Very true.

Once again, thanks - with every post we see more generalization and demonization of immigrants...

And who was President and had both houses of Congress from 2016 to 2017

So why weren’t the Democrats ok with eliminating Chain migration, the Visa lottery program or ending catch and release, anchor babies? Why?

Just bring up the fact that Trump, Ryan, and McConnell did nothing for two years on immigration and you're guaranteed to get a dodge. If it such an emergency now, why no action for two whole years? In fact, their inaction for two years is why there is an emergency now - they did nothing. The Repubs are to blame for what's occurring now. Wonder if they'll accept responsibility?

As Trump said of Sept 11 2001, "It happened on his watch" - he's President - he's responsible..

And as such, the Democrats should help him with that responsibility since they say, they are for the rule of law and legal immigration, help the President, prove that you care about this situation, but they don’t, they never have and it shows and I predict Trump will have an easy slide into the second term because Democrats once again, don’t get it and never will.

His words - Sept 11 happened on his watch so Bush is responsible. Same now.

That is the highest level of hypocrisy that I can imagine.

No way - the ultimate hypocrisy is Trump wailing against illegal immigration and demonizing immigrants all the while employing them at his properties to save on labor costs, making his supporters look like fools...

Of the caravans, Trump said this in Oct: President Trump had claimed there are “some very bad people” in the caravan; "Go into the middle of the caravans, take your cameras ... you're going to find MS-13,"

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/mexico-deports-ms-13-gang-members-found-in-caravan-near-texas-border

"We have data that there are agitators inside the shelter, that there are members of the caravan who are provoking others, some of them belong to the Mara Salvatrucha , some others who bring criminal records in their country and what we have been doing is deporting them directly with Migration," Riquelme told local reporters, according to an English language translation.

Thank you for providing further evidence that Trump and his supporters engage in baseless demonization. It's the dictator and demagogue's favorite tactic.

So Trump, rather than meet his obligation to keep our country safe,

Which he is trying to do and the Democrats won’t let him....

And who was President and had both houses of Congress from 2016 to 2017?

is going to send these, in his words, drug cartel members and racists to major US states and cities.

Let’s be specific, he said SANCTUARY CITIES and why not? The liberals and Democrats were boasting how they love everyone and thinks everyone should be allowed in and we shouldn’t have any borders, so propose we give in to their wishes, take in as many illegals as we can and relocate them to live in the communities where liberals live that are advocating for this. Seems fair to me.

If he truly believes what he says about these people, and yet moves them to these areas, he's derelict in his duty to the nation (well, derelict again) - and that is grounds for impeachment. Bring on the articles...

If he does this, as our Chief Executive responsible for our security, believing these people are in fact criminals, then he is derelict in his duties and should be impeached.

Not really, the Democrats will be responsible, they wanted open borders, they need to deal with it and the ramifications that come with being negligent and careless.

As Trump said of Sept 11 2001, "It happened on his watch" - he's President - he's responsible...

I am not a Trumper (I despise him in fact). I think what he is doing is wrong and these people should simply be deported back to the country of origin.

On the other hand the reaction of some of the politicians in favor of sanctuary cities (which I am not in favor of) is rather interesting to watch as well.

NO ONE has the backs of the American people.

I understand - I am not a supporter of sanctuary cities, but I can understand why some favor them.

As you can see by Trump's words, and those of his supporters, they are using the demagogue's old tactic of generalizing and demonizing a group of people. Contrary to Trump's oversimplification, immigrants come in many varieties; most Americans, except the far right white supremacists, support and encourage legal immigration - it's who we are as a nation. Those immigrants who try to enter the country illegally, should be turned back to their country of origin and told to apply through legal channels. But then you have those seeking asylum fleeing with their families from corrupt, failed states where merely walking down the street can get you killed. Where basic services have failed - no food/water, no police, nothing... Those people should not be demonized - they should be treated with compassion. Whether they should be granted entry to the US should be determined as our laws stipulate - through court proceedings.

But the rhetoric you hear from Trump and his supporters is hardly that - "invasion", "MS-13", "terrorists"...

It brings out our worst instincts and deep seated prejudices. That a President of the US would use these tactics merely for his own political gain is a disgrace.

A very, very great idea. Force our politicians to own their talking point that there is "no crisis at the Southern border" by depositing any and all unscreened illegal invaders pouring into our nation on their cities doorsteps/front yards/back yards and sidewalks. I'm positive their constituents will welcome their new neighbors unconditionally and with open arms.

OK, let me see if I can understand this - Trump said "Mexico is not sending their best people; they’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

Of the caravans, Trump said this in Oct: President Trump had claimed there are “some very bad people” in the caravan; "Go into the middle of the caravans, take your cameras ... you're going to find MS-13,"

One of the highest WH staff turnovers. More than 20 major staffers to date. Down to just one woman. All gone from his first year.

So what, you should have watched the Apprentice, people were being bumped off every week.

Pile on the pressure to stop the Iranians from developing nukes. They are closer than ever. Trump is not dropping bombs on Iran, something his major opponent in the 2016 election and certain politicians in both major parties would likely do if they were in charge.

You mean pull out of the Nuc Treaty that capped their production and research, pile on more sanctions, try to goad them into a incident so we can start the Neocons newest dream war in the Middle East? You know, just like the last war which he said was "the single worst mistake we ever made."

And the same should apply to the Great Satan, in that case.

Yeah, the Iranians know if they even think about attacking the US, they are taking on Israel and the Saudis. Again, I hope the mullahs make the right decision because Israel has zero problem wiping the country off the map, if Iran as large as it is were that much of a threat, Israel would have been wiped out a long time ago.

This is what you get when you elect a failed reality TV star as President - he and his supporters talking about the deaths of millions of people, as if it were nothing. God help us.

What a bunch of wild conspiracy theory bunk, likely from Moscow. Are you sure the Martians aren't involved?

Conservatives too - and Don Jr and Eric talk about it alot also - as in "that's where we get all our money"...

Bolton is a card-carrying Neocon who wants to goad Iran into a war just like Iraq - and Trump is following him like a good boy.

As he should, as every President followed their NSA and the fact that liberals hate this man with a passion makes me love him more. So I trust Bolton and I do hope that Iran does the right thing and if they don’t, he should follow what Bolton says, but we don’t have to go to war right away, as with most predictions you were off, but I will say this, Israel can take care of Iran for the most part, so if Iran wants to pick a fight with them, then we know the mullahs are suicidal.

Thank you - Trumper hypocrisy on full display - when Trump was criticizing "real genius" Bush II for starting the Iraq War, and saying the Neocon's made the "single worst decision ever made", Trumpers were ranting that the Neocons were a danger to our country. Then the flip-flop - Trump hires Neocon #1 Bolton, starts down the same path Bush did, and all's just fine.

You have savaged the Neocons in the past - why the change in tune, or should I say flip-flop?

I have savaged Neocons in the past, but I’m not dumb and I see exactly where the Iranians want to go with this, so if they make a move towards posturing for a war, the US, Israel and the Saudis will do whatever it takes to neutralize that threat.

And millions of people will die, just like in Iraq, that Trump said was the "single worst decision ever".

But I have to disagree with the latter - the single worst decision ever was Repubs allowing a serial liar, pervert, and con-man to get elected President.

Oh, you mean the Iran deal that kept the Iranians in check and under a microscope so they wouldn't pursue a nucelar weapon - the one Trump unilaterally pulled out of so he could follow Neocon Bolton's advice and start a war with Iran?

No, not the liberal excuse, but the real reason

https://www.nationalreview.com/2018/06/iran-nuclear-deal-disaster-from-the-start/

Rand is a DoD-sponsored think tank - Liberal? Are you kidding?

To swing the deal, the Obama administration sent advisers around the banking world to facilitate Iranian efforts to convert their released embargoed funds into Great Satan currency — a warping of the American financial system that was ostensibly illegal at the time. In other words, the Obama administration for some strange reason more or less went beyond the requirements of the Iran deal and used the U.S. government to help undermine its own restrictions on facilitating Iranian commerce and banking — while keeping the entire sordid mess quiet as they hectored skeptics of the deal as naïve or conspiratorial. Such habitual Obama-administration deception and conniving may explain why former secretary of state John Kerry this May so publicly and nonchalantly met Iranian representatives overseas, apparently seeing nothing wrong in the attempt to undermine the very policies of his own president. Old habits die hard.

What a bunch of wild conspiracy theory bunk, likely from Moscow. Are you sure the Martians aren't involved?

So yes, Bolton should put them on notice, we don’t want a war, but we will go to war if you go down that road.

One of the main organizers amd supporter of the Iraq war was John Bolton, Trump's National Security Adviser - who is now pushing Trump to do to Iran what Bush did to Iraq...

No one said we are going to go to war with Iran now, but given the horrendous Iranian deal that Obama created, it brought more uncertainty to the region, gave great concern to Israel and SA and it emboldened the Iranians and the mullahs and just because Trump got rid of that disastrous deal, the Iranians feel they are in the position to threaten us? So yes, Bolton is now watching and planning in the event Iran gets an embarrassing thought in their heads and decide to take on the US.

Oh, you mean the Iran deal that kept the Iranians in check and under a microscope so they wouldn't pursue a nucelar weapon - the one Trump unilaterally pulled out of so he could follow Neocon Bolton's advice and start a war with Iran?

So why is Trump repeating that he called "the single worst decision ever made"?

He’s not, but he and Bolton, Pompeo should take preliminary precautions.

He's following the strongest Neocon advocate of the Iraq war and making the same plans as Bush did - he's repeating in his words "the single worst decision ever made."

Why?

I'm confused - maybe the Trumpers here can help me understand - during the campaign Trump said this;

President Donald Trump took a dig at George W. Bush during a speech to Republican donors on Saturday, calling the former president’s decision to invade Iraq in 2003 “the single worst decision ever made.”

Trump, whose shifting position on the Iraq War is well-documented, said the decision was akin to “throwing a big fat brick into a hornet’s nest.” CNN first reported Trump’s remarks, delivered at a fundraiser at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

“Here we are, like the dummies of the world, because we had bad politicians running our country for a long time,” Trump said. He went on to mock fellow Republican Bush, sarcastically calling him a “real genius” over his decision to invade Iraq.

One of the main organizers amd supporter of the Iraq war was John Bolton, Trump's National Security Adviser - who is now pushing Trump to do to Iran what Bush did to Iraq...

So why is Trump repeating that he called "the single worst decision ever made"?

And another Trump administration official that grew tired of the chaos, criminal behavior, and antics of our two-year old President.

I wonder what child-like insult he will hurl at her as she departs...

It's clear - you enter this administration at your peril - you'll be abused, dumped, your reputation besmirched, and lose whatever integrity you had.

It's a national nightmare...
