"While trains in urban Japan are notoriously crowded during the morning rush, people are for the most part perfectly polite"

This is obviously someone who has never actually been on a Japanese train during rush hour...

I think its a great idea. Japan HAS CHANGED a lot since WW2. Abe is 100% correct.

I think that is very obvious that Rodman is acting on behalf of the U.S government or is perhaps playing the role of political go-between. Mr Joe Public in typical fashion is too stupid to see that!

If China does attack Japan, Japan will be screwed anyway because over 60% of the population will be over the age of 45 and there will be no young people to fight the Chinese...

Instead of complaining all the time why doesnt Abe fix the population problem and the debt problems that will surely crush Japan before China does...

I think this kind of lonely life is quickly becoming the norm all over the world now. People are a lot more selfish nowadays and want to put of getting married and having kids to as late a date as possible because they want to have freedom or they want to concentrate on their career...

If they are lonely later on... That is their bed and they should lay in it.

Japanese people sub-consciously act out the peace sign in photos as a way of taking away the embarrassment of having said photo taken. We all pose, just the peace sign is Japans. I always pose with my hand on my chin so I look like a douche but that is just me...

Posted in: The trials and tribulations of giving your seat on a train to a Japanese senior citizen See in context

“The guy winked at her and said, ‘Just treating you like a lady, Miss.’ The old woman blushed. I blushed. I think everyone on the train blushed.”

“There was a thuggish looking guy sleeping in the priority seat while an old woman was standing,” another account begins, “so a little boy shook the dude awake, ordering him to give the woman his seat. He stood up right away, patted the kid on the head, and told him, ‘Sorry about that, squirt. You keep on doing the right thing.’”

“A family with a small boy came onto the train, so I gave him my seat. The kid and his family thanked me, but as he sat down, he turned to his mom and whispered, ‘You really can’t judge people by their appearance, huh Mama?’ I felt like kicking his little butt.”

“After I gave my seat to an old lady, she told me, ‘Even though you’re a punk, you at least know to give up your seat. You’re the scum of society, and you’ve got no business sitting down in the first place.’ Please don’t call me a punk just because I dye my hair….Actually, I think people like you, who can’t even say thank you, are the real scum.”

Try and watch Japanese Tv for one night and not see some dead eyed celebrity over exaggerate how delicious some udon is... It is the same thing on every damned channel...

China is a bloody dictatorship and should be dealt with accordingly. There can be no negotiation with or appeasement of such a regime. I hope that the people of China will rise up and overthrow these monsters before it is too late.

And what is American? American has been a wolf in sheeps clothing for decades... Atleast China is not bombing countries left right and centre, using drones, meddling in other countries politics...

Basically, I feel, what with the plummeting birthrate, the increase of taxes, the energy disaster and a whole host of other things, Abe is trying desperately to force the nation to concentrate on other things, like the Senkaku Islands and other disputes over tiny uninhabited rocks, national pride. National pride will make people blind to the fact Japan is heading for financial and economical disaster.

As someone who reads Japanese School textbooks in their spare time, I can conur that they do not go very deeply on any subjects related to WW2 and mainly focus on dates.
