The American government seems to be powerless to stop the drugs going north and the gun south.

Because the "War on drugs" is profitable and allows them to concentrate authority and power.

Posted in: In impeachment testimony, U.S. diplomat says she was told to tweet support for Trump See in context

Perhaps what may be overlooked in this act of corruption by Trump is what would have happened had he been successful. He would be campaigning next year bellowing out that his rival is corrupt. He would be demanding investigations and probably leading "lock him up" chants. He would be using his corrupt ways to paint someone else as corrupt.

If you think he's not gonna do that anyway, then you haven't been paying attention.

The Trumpers here ought to give this passage a hard look

Point out a fairly significant difference between the threat given and the action taken (which is the only thing that really counts).

Get called Trumper.

You're getting played

Say's the person that obviously, at least on this post, believes anything less than 100% compliance in his beliefs equates to support for PDT.

And THAT is why, come 2020, we're gonna be stuck with this idiot for another 4 years. ALL the left has to do is not act crazy... and they can't even do that.

Posted in: Trump threatens to withhold emergency aid from fire-hit California See in context

Donald Trump threatened once again Sunday to withhold federal aid

Yet...

"Last night they approved seven additional emergency grants in record time,"

So... what was said... and what was done... are two different things.

"But what's so insidious, and what's so remarkable is that he's doing everything right to respond to these disasters and everything wrong to address what’s happening to cause them."

Pretty sure that...

"Every year, as the fire’s rage & California burns, it is the same thing-and then he comes to the Federal Government for $$ help. No more. Get your act together Governor,"

Is his method of addressing it by pointing out your crap eco policies that are contributing to the annual raging of the flames.

This is all political theater at the moment. It shall remain so until the House has a formal vote to proceed. Until then... their expecting the Don to cooperate under the threat of impeachment. Which goes to show... they haven't been paying attention.

As it stands, this "inquiry" is merely the Democrats way of reaping the rewards of an impeachment (ramp up base support, try to convince fence-sitters, make accusations, etc.) without having to actually give the accused the legal tools that would otherwise be at his disposal to defend himself in an actual impeachment.

Always amazed at how fired up some people get over something that simply isn't any of their business.

If Fred marries John.... it has no effect on me. Zip. Nada. None.

Why should I try and force someone else to live by the moral standards that I decide?

And why should a government... any government?

Its is rather politically naïve tweeting a restaurant soiree...

The "woke" ideology simplified. Everything, no matter how trivial, has to be discussed with an eye on how it will be viewed "politically". Failure to do so will force one to be banished to the nearest corner where you will be forced to contemplate your thought crime.

I fear the post-Olympics Tokyo is going to be a very desperate place.

Fun fact: Taxpayers of most Olympic hosts end up with severe buyer's remorse within a year or two of the ending ceremony. The economic boost is temporary... and the debt long-standing.

And there are already those on the left whining, non-stop, about the amount of of dialogue by the Sharon Tate character. Apparently, it's not enough... and that is because the guy behind Kill-Bill despises female actresses.

Which may, or may not, affect his ability to "strike gold".

Dude has a three year contract, he should be given the wages he was due!

> Absolutely. A contract is a contract.

Funny thing about contracts, especially one's involving labor. They often (and by often, I mean ALWAYS) stipulate what BOTH parties are required to bring to the table.

And there is ZERO discussion in this article about what items HE was required to bring to the table. For instance... he may have been required to have a certain starting level of proficiency that he simply didn't have.

Discussion of contracts always get to me because most people argue for/against them as if they are one-way vehicles in support of whichever side is make any specific point.

No. The real problem is when adult men who should know better minimise sex crimes.

No, no.... The problem is the attempt to criminalize human nature. And it IS human nature. Every male on this forum trying to tell you they didn't either successfully sneak a peek, or at least tried to, is lying and simply trying to white-knight their way to acceptance.

Understanding that, it is still NOT proper behavior, nor should it be accepted and needs to be dealt with. Yes, boys will be boys. And any father worth a crap will discuss this with their sons in a manner that informs them on WHY it is inappropriate, disrespectful, etc.

Posted in: Redacted Mueller report to be released within a week See in context

Regardless if the report contains anything worth mentioning after redacting it, the wise will still see Trump for what he is...a cheap, lying, conman.

In other words... there was nothing that could have been done to convince you otherwise. We've wasted 2 years and buckets of money because your "feelz" told you something other than what the facts state and you feel entitled to access information you have no business having access to. Got it.

This is primarily a national security report. Trump may be compromised. Our elected officials should respond immediately. What’s the hold up?

Trump is not compromised. Give it up. This fantasy you're living isn't healthy.

What's the hold up? I can tell you exactly what the hold up is. The redaction is necessary because of sources, methods, etc., and the extremely high likelihood (more like a guarantee) that any number of deranged progressives would "leak" the document thereby damaging relationships, methods, etc.

You can deny it all you want, and I expect you to, but you're lying to yourself if you think any politician, especially those on the left, would consider the protection of that type of data more important than scoring some minor "hit" on the orange man.

The continued crazy behavior and statements from the (D)'s are only gonna make it more likely we get stuck with this narcissistic SOB again in 2020.

Do I have the right to not have the kid directly in front/behind me screaming for most of a 8 - 12 hour flight? How about the kid behind me that refuses to quit kicking the chair... even AFTER asking the parents to have him stop, followed up by several dirty looks, etc.? Or the infant that crapped his diapers and the parents wait a couple hours to change it?

Yes... "everyone" has the right to fly. But everyone doesn't have the right to be a nuisance to all others.

I supposed that's more of a rant about inadequate/bad parenting. Which, you can typically avoid while on land. Hard to do so in a flying tube that most closely resembles a sardine tin.

NHK does provide a very valuable service during major disasters like earthquakes and tsunamis.

In this day and age, where EVERY.SINGLE.CHANNEL beats every "significant" news story - including live and up-to-date info about natural disasters - to death for the entire day, what does NHK provide that any other channel doesn't?

If you could remove all the patently false statements about nuclear power (waste, etc.), as well as interject the proven facts about solar (nice panels.. until you have to store large amounts of generated energy or replace them), this younger generation would be screaming about the need for nuclear power.

4) Liz won't make it to the 2nd debate.
