Too funny and only a shallow pool of so-called "international" marriages that they spoke to! HA HA HA Made my afternoon!!! (my poor hubby will get a good laugh out of this - wonder where we fit into this??????!!!) LOL!

I made my comment ages ago but I do think everyone has a right to their opinion whatever that may be! I do wish that perhaps I had started my family earlier but circumstances didnt allow that! My husband and I had a serious talk about having another child (I am 40) but decided that if nothing had happened by the end of the year then my daughter would be an only child.........it is a serious issue (perhaps the doctor in question is playing on it a bit) and one needs to be aware of the risks both to mother and child! But lets not forget men as well..their fertility decreases with age and as they say "it takes two to tango"!!!!! At the moment, (thankfully) everything is going smoothly and I just hope and pray that both I (and my unborn child) are healthy at the end of it all! Thats all I ask for..........

I agree with Nicki and Cleo. If you are a well informed, read person you will perhaps understand the idea that fertility decreases with age and that as you get older, it becomes more difficult and the risks are greater. But in saying that there are women in their 20s that have had problems conceiving and their children have been born with problems too! I think its a hit and miss - kind of like the lottery! But if you are lucky enough to have your children in your 30s or before thats great but sometimes we dont have that option. In my 20s I was not emotionally or financially ready - I wanted to travel the world, work on my career - not having children. My partner at the time was not the person I wanted to have children with.Consequently..I had my first at 39 and about to have my second at 41 because I was ready and I have a husband I wanted to have children with. I just hope that my second child will be born happy and healthy...if not, then we will deal with it as it is!

I was at home having a nap with my 3 mth old daughter when the building started shaking down here in Shiga Pref. Usually I dont mind them but this one was different!!!! IT FELT BIG! I grabbed her, opened the door, and got under the table!!! Then I got on the phone, called my folks in NZ and assured them we were miles from it all but to turn onto BBC to watch the footage! Was like something out of a scifi movie - totally unreal and unbelievable and I hope noone ever experiences that again and has to go through what the communities up north went through and are still going through!

As someone rightly pointed out, this is the 3rd or 4th article about what us foreign bods dont like/find annoying or find confusing about Japan! So how about an article about what Japanese find confusing about us foreign bods? That might get some interesting responses!!!!!!

Agree with Cleo and Nicky! Japan is cool and there are a ton of other things. But as Gilberto says its all marketing. I wonder what age group they are really targeting??

Oh great - he is STILL on this path and like Japan needs him! One dares to hope he just disappears but alas not likely!

The good outweighs the bad but I think the blaring political messages around election time are the most annoying! During the day is bearable but early in the morning or late at night .....what about the idea that "we Japanese like quiet" (as I got told by a lady on the subway in Yokohama a few years back in response to my friends young child talking loudly - ironically the child was Japanese but was excited to be talking to me in English!) ???

Oh great...ANOTHER political party! Just what Japan needs...NOT!!! Stop thinking of yourselves and get it together and try to rebuild this country. Consumption tax hikes are NEVER popular with anyone but a gradual one is better than hiking it straight up!!!

I thought the govt was trying to cut wasteful spending? I sympathise with those who have loved ones abducted by the DPRK but 7 panels is not going to solve an issue that has been going on for years and may never be solved because the DPRK refuses to acknowledge the fact!!! Yet again more wasteful spending when there are those in the Tohoku region who need help!!!!!
