Are these not the same crew that missed one Ichihashi - in his socks? That said, I wonder if, like so many established Japanese organisations, there are in fact younger and more attuned members who would actually like to do the job, but feel they can not due to the heirarchical nature of their workplace? Boss says "Besso is booked, for the team its essential you go". Rebellion in this case - and it applies to many many large companies, government departments, and even smaller businesses working from the prescribed model, likely means future career hopes are at risk. Perhaps an underlying - and really really difficult- problem here could be providing the support to actually, once and for all, get the old ways out of the fabric of Japanese politcal, corporate and social structure. Shit - thats a tall order .
