Posted in: Nokia abandons Japanese market See in context

Nokia made a huge mistake with teh symbian and their ovi platform is adistant third behind iPhone and Androids in the smartphone market. people are right in that Nokia still has a huge market share, but that is in cheap 2G handsets and low cost 3G handsets. They have no credible product in the smartphoen market which is increasingly becoming an iPhone, Samsung galaxy and HTC market. i would go so far as saying Motorola have great products compared to Nokia in the smartphone sphere having aligned with Android.

They need to cut the losses and drop symbian/ovi which is just crap.

Whilst Samoa have always had a strong sevens culture and record, I never factored them to be a 15s country. How does this all bode for japan and Asia? We need japn to win a match and score extra points for Asia to get a second slot at the Rugby World Cup.

Posted in: Ichihashi admits to raping, strangling Hawker, but denies intent to kill See in context

Can someone explain to me the difference between: 1). Murder (intent to kill is detrmined I believe?) 2). Second degree murder 3). Manslaughter (killed, but accidental ie no intent to kill?).

Also how do you strangle someone and say that the intent was not there? I can understand if they bludgeoned someone or pushed them over a wall or something, but to strangle and not claim intent?)

JT, can't argue with the choice of Norika as "Ideal Body". Stunning is an understatement for her. However I think JT could have posted a better picture of her which justifies her choice!

Posted in: Hero of Asia Cup final at ease with his Japanese-Korean identity See in context

For all those who say this is a non-story, you're wrong. The story highlights exactly the deep rooted sense of nationaism within the country, if not the people. I'm japanese, my parents are japanese all my grand-parents and their parents are japanese. my wife is japanese and my chidlren are Japanese. I wasn't born in japan and in fact hae only lived in japan as a result of my work. However I have a japanese passport. We're probably one of the few countries that don't allow people of other ethnicity to obtain nationality even if they were born in the country many generations over. The exception is of course atheletes and VIPs who naturalize. Tadanori Lee is every bit as Japanese if not more than I am. It's a pity that he was stuck between the two countries as an outcast, but I am glad that he is stronger than that and has achieved the recognition that he deserves.

Posted in: Japan comes together under Zaccheroni at Asian Cup See in context

Couple of points here from my observations. 1). Yes the aussies whinged to the press about this and that, BUT, the game was a tight one and they had every chance to win as did the japanese. It may have been a difference of a few calls, but their sporting spirirt was there at the end. Nothing but respect from me.

2). Zaccheroni madea huge difference and has proven his tactical worth. Pushing nagatomo up and bringing on Lee were brilliant strokes of genius, which were proven correct with hindsight, but nevertheless spot on.

3). Already people are bashing Okada. Come on guys, I use to bash Okada up to the hilt, but not after the World Cup. The way he used Honda in a more attacking role and by having the courage to go with kawashima ahead of narazaki...he contributed tactically to a great world cup by the Samurai Blues. Quit bashing him guys, he's earned my respect at the least.

4). Tournament MVP....Honda? Personally Kawashima was the one for me who really made the difference for japan.

Posted in: Japan beats South Korea to set up Asian Cup final clash with Australia See in context

The semi-final was amazing and everyone deserves praise, Japanese and Korean for a brilliant game (Kawashima . The only person I fault ion that game was the ref who was atrocious and called many things wrong IMO.

The final will be interesting. Japan have to be exhausted after their games against Qatar and South Korea. The aussies will alo be a lotmore physical. Will desperation play a part for the aussie players (menioned earlier by someone given their age). Don't think so. The Koreans like Park Ji Sung and Cha Du Ri would equally have seen this as their last chance for the Asian Cup. For the japanese players, they would be hungry given that this would have been the first opportunity to win the tournament for many of them. The last time Japan won was with Zico in 2004.

Go Blue Samurai!

Posted in: Japan faces host Qatar in Asian Cup quarterfinals See in context

room temperature. Yes Let's define teh region as the Gulf Region. This region is covered under the West Asian Football Federaton which has 13 national association members, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Qatar,Saudi Arabia, Syria and the United Arab Emirates and Yemen. Every two years they host the West Asian Football Federation Championship, which was first held in 2000. Results can be found on web, but NEVER have saudi made the final four. The Powerhouses of the Gulf region are really Iran and Syria, not Saudi Arabia.

Mate I just can't fathom that I'd want my daughter prancing around in a costume that resembles something most parents would find an appalling excuse for a school uniform whilst being leered at by a bunch of middle aged "otakus".

Commitment I can fully understand. I hav a 14 year old son, who's trying to make the most of an attempt at being a professional football player.

After a grueling selection process that took 3 years and 9 months...the final four were Erina Ikuta, 13, Riho Sayashi, 12, Kano Suzuki, 12, and Mizuki Fukumura, 14

Hold on here guys, am i deduce that these four have been applying and trying out since the age of 8 or 9 for some of them??? jeez that is seriously wrong here...

I have two daughters and cannot imagine what kind of parents would put their kids throuigh such a process...

I'm always amazed at how large the suitcases are that are used by Japanese travelers. My guess is that they tend only to travel for a week, why do they need so much luggage?

I guess you've never seen HK people travel....They are primary reason that airlines are in business courtesy for excess bagagae charges!

Guys if life were all about doing things politically correct, we would be living like 1950's Soviets or taunting a little red book in the middle of the Great Leap Forward. Live a little and forget about you soy milk lattes and organically grown green salads. Sharpie you stick with your "non-disgusting" diet. As northlondon says I'm a happy man

Guys, I'm now in HK having eover enjoyed myself in japan. To add to the jealousy, BK is getting huge here. A Private equity firm took the franchise and are now expanding, I have a BK which is a 3 minute walk from my office and one that is a 10 minute drive from my home (if only I could find parking nearby...). The point is (a) the stacker is not here yet but (b) they give you the option to add patties at an extra cost. You can stack a 3rd whopper patty to your double whopper with BBQ and bacon. It sure as hell beats the lotteria 7 patty cheese burger I tried in May and the freshness burgers you get here. I still love the MOS teriyaki burger, which is defientely a hall of fame burger for me.

If (a big if) the intention was just to commit rape and she died when he tried to stop her from shouting and screaming, the defense tactics should focus on trying to negotiate with the prosecutors for a pleading of the lessor charge of manslaughter. The prosecutor should rightfully stick to his guns and ask the judge to try the more serious charge of murder and rape. 1). The rape was premediated. he planned his course of action. 2). When she died she was found in a tub of sand. How many people have sand in their bathtub to cover a deadbody. A sign that there was an intent to kill not? 3). He evaded the police for 2.5 years, undergoing plastic surgey to alter his appearances.
