I refer you all to my original post and will put it into easier English for ya'll. Toyota employ thousands of people in the US. Toyota is an extremely solvent company none relient on govt. hand-outs and breaks. The US does not have a 'solvent' (non-bankrupt) auto-manufacturer. Therefore, if the US push Toyota too much and they decide to build in Canada instead then bye-bye US motor industry. Hope I made myself understood this time.

Good luck and fair play to the Toyota chief for stand before congress. A complete embarrassment for him and the Japanese government if you ask me. The US propaganda machine is in full flow and wishes to bury Toyota
The one thing that these shortsighted editors in the US media forget is that Toyota US have margin on their products and a lot more than the big three (who have none, hence the US firms have been technically and literally bankrupt for years) and all Toyota have to do is shave about 2% - 3% off that margin and they won't just be just burying the US motor industry for good, it will be a 10 minute cremation and 'game over'.
The US should be very careful what they wish for. I do not usually side with Japan, but this is clearly a story were Toyota are in the right and the way the US has handled herself is quite frankly embarassing..

As mentioned in the first post, this is all based around getting media coverage for the protesters. Let's put him through the Japanese legal system that should quieten things down for a month or so. I would charge him with ramming his ship into the Shonan Maru, I would charge him with endangering life. I would call on the Skipper of the J-ship last to return from Antarctic as a main witness in this case and hold him until that ship returned to Japan at the end of April.

The Ady Gil was this not 3 million dollars worth of boat and was this not a weapon? Yes, mi'Lord. Did said boat not have on board it an arsenal of weapons in it's own right? Yes, mi'Lord. Was the pirate's vessel not ploughed into the Shonan Maru in an attempt to gain media coverage for it's own cause, thereby endangering the lives of it's own crew in a misguided attempt at becoming martyrs to that cause? Yes, mi'Lord.
Bring him to London, I've got my wig and gown here, I'll put away with ease and would do it for free.

I'm getting very sick of all this sycophancy around celebrity - though I'm prepared to admit that I have been as guilty of this as anybody else.
People like Kevin Smith spend their whole life being pandered to and made a fuss over - and then the instant he gets a little bit of disrepsct - he's ranting away on twitter for hours on end and launching a mini-media campaign around 'how important this all is'.
It's not important Kevin - get a grip of reality!
Ordinary people like us have to endure this kind of disrespect every fifteen minutes of our miserable lives, in the workplace, on public transport and even in our homes.
So my message to Kevin Smith is, belt up fatty!

As mentioned the drugs are not available here due to a cartel set up by the J-pharm companies. Much like Narita airport being set up miles away from Tokyo as there was vested interest in the construction and running of Tokyo's airport in another prefecture (state). Personally I wouldn't send a dog to some of these doctors. So weigh it up people, no drugs, archaic practices and an aversion to anesthetic in all except major surgery. Go elsewhere if I was you..

Bring him back to Japan and put him on trial for terrorism because that's what he's been up to. A lengthy jail sentence should sort out these kind of capers in the future.

DS - Let's not break this down into a question about liberalism, that's just wrong, true liberals would uphold Japan's right to eat whale as they are at heart libitarians. I would be surprised if these kids on the boat didn't have quite totalitarian views in some respect. They are after all asking one nation to give something up because 'they' don't like it. Therein lies the route to Orwell's 1984 and it is anything but Liberal.
