Posted in: 18-year-old girl killed by stalker hours after seeking help from police See in context

I don't think the police in my home country would act any differently, especially if this was the FIRST time they visited the police. The police have to do due dilligence to make sure this threat is serious... they can't accept every story on face value until they investigate and prove it.. then they can act, bring in the stalker, arrest him, etc..

If this system doesn't work then any person can walk into a koban and demand the police arrest someone for following them.. truthful or not

Has economic output actually increased??? Or is this "increase" only because the Yen has been so devalued over the past 6 months?

I have a relative with MS.. I was blown away by how expensive these treatments are, we're talking maybe $5000 per month for medication and this even isn't gov't covered.. in case you're wondering if the drug companies are actually developing these products for the betterment of mankind.

hey bertie, never said I was a seasoned okinawa explorer, this was back in 2005 and I think the place I was at was Mihama American Village... and for the record, I did manage a trip around Naha, the himeyuri school memorial and to Nago and made it to the Churaumi Aquarium, along with various small restaurants and sampling Habushu

^ I agree.. people were still going to Okinawa before, during and will be after the Base is gone.

If there was one thing that really piqued my interest there was the first time I went.. it seemed like a little American enclave with all the shops and restaurants

The US military was on okinawa b/c the US and Japan have a defense pact - now that Japan is flexing its muscle militarily, the need for a US base there is diminishing. That being said, the US will probably never get rid of their naval base at Yokosuka however - its the HQ of their 7th fleet or all of their presence in Japan. Like it or not, some US military will be there for the forseable future

instead of spending that 1,6 mil yen on a piece of fruit, you could have invested that money into the Nikkei, sold it 3 months later and bought 2 Melons!!!

Either way, this is a ridiculous business but people out there are stupid enough to buy these things... hell, i should quit finance and become a melon grower

a great way to derail any economic growth is to raise the sales tax.. but now the added stimuls is going to drive prices up ever further thus increasing the gov't take along the way.

this is such a farce... Japan should "man up" and apologize for what its former military did. This is a black mark (among many) on its history and should be rectified

And when the Saturday plan fails again they will introduce Sunday school to take up the slack - what a joke, I don't want my children anywhere near the j-education system
