I wish Japan and other developed nations assist Africa with leadership and managerial skills before giving out aid. We in Africa are very poor in strategy and fighting corruption. No wonder we remain 'Third world' countries.

China has invested highly in Africa in terms of infrastructure. At the same time, most of China's products have found their way into Africa at affordable prices despite their low standard due to the harsh economic conditions the continent is experiencing. To many, quality is no longer a factor.

We Africans can hardly prosper because we have no financial discipline. We keep revolving around the globe with begging bowls for misplaced priorities. Let Mugabe try it exceptionally different this time round for the sake of his suffering citizens. Well done Japan.

I hope the lady will be able to substantiate her allegations although I equally doubt whether it had reached judicial standards. Notwithstanding, the 11 women also had a right to have their grievances listened.

Statistically speaking, the fact that majority of the terrorist attacks recorded the world over have an islamic link cannot be overemphasized. Nonetheless, associating the two interchangeably is an understatement. Muslims are peace lovers and scrutiny requires a case by case analysis as opposed to wholesome condemnation as some 'selfseeking analysts' may wish to insinuate.

What a contrast! While over 90% of African countries have a population of below 50 million people each and encouraging family planning methods to match with the economy, Japan is encouraging the contrary. This certifies Japan's economic stability and the proposed strategies should be encouraged or you import african workforce. (this I say on a light note)

Posted in: Japan should accept more refugees, fix asylum system: UNHCR See in context
Currently, the biggest refugee camp in the world is here in Kenya hosting about 330,000 of them. It has been there since 1992 following Somalia's political turmoil which has not been corrected todate. Unfortunately, there has been linkage between radicalization of the youth (terrorists) and the camp and the govt has advocated for it's closure although this has been objected globally. Personally, I do not wish to link the two directly but I may support 'Japan's assistance from a distance'. I sympathize with refugees but with the current terrorist insurgence, I would advocate that we host refugees with greater attention.

I concur, majority of the sedans and vans operating on Kenyan roads are Toyota make imported from Japan. In terms of quality and affordability, surely toyota has no match. Toyota brands of the 1970s are still on our roads and growing stronger due to affordable spare parts. Keep up Toyota, I wonder where third world countries would be in terms of automobile without you. Well done, we are totally behind you.

On a fair note, why are the developed nations watching from the terraces as these gangs continue to terrorize the world? A reality check in Mosul (Iraq) and Baidoa here in neighbouring Somalia concerning the sharia rules imposed on the public will be a wake up call that there is an elephant in the room. The more we turn a blind eye on this vice claiming we are not directly affected, the more it will spread. It has spilled over it's deadly acts to sovereign countries and should be nibbed on the bud before it becomes a global disaster.

Posted in: Gov't to step up measures to prevent terrorism in Japan See in context
Unfortunately, strict counterchecking emphasis is just carried out immediately after an attack and the trend dies with time. We are living in very odd times where locals are secretly sneaking out of the country for terrorism lessons and leading the gangs back for attacks. In a recent terrorist attack at a Kenyan university where 147 students were killed, it was very embarassing to realise that the gang leader was a Kenyan who had sneaked out of the country sometime back for the lessons. He secretly sneaked the gang back and invaded the hostels at dawn and carried it out on religious profiling. Those able to iterate certain verses of their (gang) holy book were spared. As such being a local alone does not exempt one from counterchecking. These thugs may soon beat our potential to curb the menace unless we interject head-on earlier.

All said and done, one thing is for sure, that the world is not making concerted effort to curb this menace-terrorism. This is becoming, by and by, a global threat. We cannot succeed by mere talk. How can African countries that have greatly fallen prey to the menace overcome it unless assisted by developed countries, scincerely speaking?
