Either a senility test of a blood test for alcohol or drugs (prescription or non) is in order.

With a name like "Lube Olympics" I was assuming it was a different type of event than he one pictured here. I would have liked to see the gold medal winner for sure.

“Spirited Away,” a masterful, disturbing critique of modern industrialization.

And there I was figuring it was just a tale about a girl in a bath house with some back to nature type stuff thrown in.

Posted in: Honda to pay $25 mil to settle U.S. discrimination claims See in context

It is the dealers who mark up the interest rates. Honda Finance sets the base rate and the dealers add to that to make profit for the dealership. It's up to the consumer to say yea or nay to the deal.

Same thing with the purchase price. Less savvy consumers end up paying more. Survival of the fittest, I suppose.

Ha Ha. I love this part.. She is not helping the cause.

she left the restaurant in a huff, being sure to make loud noises to make herself feel better.

Why have random baggage checks of foreigners when it was a Japanese citizen in this instance that cause the problem?

As always, easier to blame someone else than one's self.

Posted in: Prices of chocolate, sauces, bread, other items to rise See in context

It' almost defies description that the price that chocolate has not risen in 41 years. I can't think of any other country in the world that could make that claim

Posted in: 40% of unattached singles in their 20s, 30s don't want relationship: survey See in context

Japanese women can be very choosy. They'd rather remain single than date a guy who doesn't fit their ideal in looks, wealth, job status etc

That's not unique to Japan. Seems to be that way in many big cities in many parts of the world.

Coal? Why not just chop the forests down and burn those too? Talk about a bad way to make electricity.

Posted in: Do you think Japan should do away with the one-yen coin? See in context

Only thing one yen coins are good for is throwing in the little charity boxes at stores, etc.

In Canada we did away with the one cent coin and I can't think of a single person who regretted to see it go. The rounding is a non issue since cash payments that would result in one or two cents change are rounded down, and ones with 3 or 4 cents in change are rounded up. Non cash bills (eg credit card, electronic transfers) are not affected at all.

Posted in: What do you think of the custom of taking one's shoes off before coming indoors at home? Would you do it in your country? See in context

In Canada everyone takes their shoes off upon entering a house. It is just a given. Any visitor (say from the UK) is quickly clued into that part of culture.

I have know some very rude people, but even they never fail to remove their shoes upon entering a house.

Posted in: FAA warns Boeing 787 bug could shut off aircraft power See in context

By coincidence, I will be flying on a 787 to Japan tomorrow. Not worried in the slightest.

Many of you seem to be nervous Nellies...there is a bigger chance of expiring in a car crash than a 787 crash (and there have been, let me see..zero, repeat zero deaths on 787's)

JalapenoAPR. 07, 2015 - 05:52PM JST No more maple syrup for me.

Maple syrup is not produced in British Columia. In fact, sugar maples do not grow there. Production in Canada comes from Ontario, Quebec and further east, all of which is many thousands of km's from BC.

TrevorPeace1-you can easily buy Toto washlets in Canada. Just ask at any quality plumbing/bathroom store. Toto USA sells and distributes them. Rather pricey though. In the Toronto area many Asian stores also sell them.

I have also seen Korean sold at Costco in Canada.
