I’ll be happy when men quit social media.

The online community world will be a much better place without them until they can learn to speak out against this appalling abuse and harassment that men inflict up girls and women on a daily basis.

 Unless milk and eggs grow on trees, I would hardly call these products plant-based.

True, two of the four products in the line contain milk and eggs - the meatballs and the patty. The mince and the slices don't have any dairy listed in the ingredients.

Unfortunately and especially in Japan, plant-based, or 'veggie', don't necessarily mean vegetarian or vegan. Ingredients lists are rarely comprehensive, so when in doubt, call the company.

There is no such thing as plant based meat as it is not animal flesh.

Flesh-eaters do get so worked up about this, don't they. I didn't realise it was so hard for them to understand what 'plant-based meat' or 'substitute meat' means!

 Please tell us where else sells plant based meats

Green's Vegetarian on Rakuten has a variety of plant-based meats from different companies.

The Nature Shop Karuna which has a physical store in Aichi and an online store.

AEON sells plant-based meats in retort packets.

Next Meat.

Alishan.

Costco.

An important tradition for new mothers in Japan. It must be painful for them to miss out on this experience, and very difficult to return home and deal with day-to-day parenting by themselves. I hope more cities and towns are actively offering support.

"narrowly"? Not all the results are in, but DT has so far got fewer votes than Ms Clinton did in 2016, and the gap is the same as back then. Seems pretty clear.

It is, I'll agree, a gap that should be wider. That so many people voted for that vicious bigot after the past four years, shows it is still a country filled with hatred and ugliness.

Mr Biden needs to stop that hatred and ugliness being allowed to have a say.

@Brian Wheway:

They didn't provide food for them all. There are photos taken by the rescue team, of the dogs eating each others' faeces for nourishment.

Here is a link to Dobutsukikin information about the house and the rescue.

Such cruelty. 330,000 lives - and that's just at one farm. How many farms are there in the country? The inhumane conditions are obscene.

Just because of those stupid bloody chicken wings most people just suck on and throw away.

It's disgusting.

@Gobshite and Armel MALEJACQ

There is animal welfare, especially locally and at grassroots levels. If you are opposed to euthanizing animals, and wish to help these and other animals, please donate towards their care at

 that's more likely 164 dogs going for the gaz chamber.

Absolutely not. Dobuutsukikin is dedicated to protecting the lives of animals which have been abandoned or are otherwise ignored by the authorities, like street cats. They would only euthanize a very sick, suffering, and highly infectious animal.

Please donate to dobutsukikin, to support their sterling work with these dogs - neutering and spaying them, tending to their health issues, and finding them foster care and new homes.

Calling someone - be they male, female, or intergender - 'it', is dehumanizing. Historically, only the very worst kinds of people and groups have done this, when their goal was to kill the people they looked down on.

Posted in: Quarter of LGBT people in Japan have experienced outing: survey See in context

they're outed more because it's probably that they're going into female-only spaces (this is women's biggest problem with unrestricted 'self-identification').

And yet, oddly enough, it's men whose voices are loudest and transphobic about this.

I'm aware of TERF of course, but wherever there is a discussion about whether or not transitioning women can enter a women-only space, there you'll find a man giving his opinion (and not for the first and only time, for sure).

Posted in: Quarter of LGBT people in Japan have experienced outing: survey See in context

People who say, "Well we are being told it's ok so it must be ok, what's wrong with being outed?" are being deliberately obtuse, which is in itself a form of bigotry.

This is a world where in many countries homosexuality is illegal, an imprisonable offence, and can lead to capital punishment.

Even in countries where it is legal, and where same-sex marriage is legal, hate crimes are a regular occurrence - ie people are raped, beaten, and killed for being gay or for 'looking gay', bigoted slurs are common in daily life, and homosexuality is still mocked on the small and large screen.

This is still not a safe world for the LGBTIA+ community, and to think otherwise means you have a lot of learning to do.

Outing someone is often a vindictive, bullying act, deliberately done to make trouble for that person. How do people not see that as a problem?
