Posted in: Thai PM assures Japan floods will never again disrupt business See in context

Thats a bold statement to say that a natural disaster such as flooding won't occur, especially when the ocean surface temperatures have risen, which has caused more flooding world wide. Any % increase in moisture in the atmosphere will cause more flooding as a storm rolls over the ocean collection all the extra moisture.

Which country hasn't been flooded in the last two years? USA Mississippi river, Pakistan, Australia, South Korea, China, Thailand, and so on

@wtfjapan couldn't say it better. Suicide is more devastating to human lives than almost any other cause of death. It is over looked greatly as the norm because it is has been drawn out over the decades and centuries.

People need to see that they have something to live for. Just because another person or institution says you aren't good enough means nothing.

It was like Mission Impossible. A team of operatives needed to delay that train and the least suspicious way was to jam a door by paying an unsuspecting student ;p

They should hire 100 or so people with the job of observing at the ends of subway platforms and just asking people "how are you today?" then see if there is any noticeable difference after a year.

Radioactive snow... people are ridiculous. They should be worrying more about solar radiation from the move to Okinawa. There is a higher chance of skin cancer from the sun then anything they will find in Okinawa.

I don't get it. Why bother denying something?

If a war happened decades ago (or even a 1000 years ago), but it was a known fact. What kind of shame is there in acknowledging it? Its not likely anyone you known or hardly anyone even living participated in it.

I don't believe any suicide can be called cowardly. It does take courage to die. If it didn't there would be millions killing themselves everyday.

I think mentioning a rate is not foolish. In reality they could use it to fool traders into buying yen now and do an intervention well before 75. If something like this is stated, it does not mean it is written in stone. Everyone's reaction that the line must be true could help a bluff.

Hey Miyazawa, I don't think it is reasonable to call all men "animals" and "perverts" because some corporations decide to make these products.

Who would be the ones buying it? Women. If they don't buy it then companies will just lose money and stop making it.

Who would probably see it if someone does buy it? Mothers and daughters, the occasional tween boyfriend, but not so likely some older men.

I'm specifically speaking of the case outside Japan.

My list from living in Japan: -spending more money because there is always a department store around the next corner -going to the convenience store a lot from almost never in Canada because its actually convenient -cooking different dishes because some items are either too expensive or not available -enjoyed sleeping on the floor -felt like I had to use my time more wisely and that every moment counted more maybe because I could sense I wouldn't be in Japan for the long run

Too bad there isn't a super computer determining every single human beings personal tax rate. Currently, it is a all for one and one for all tax system, but in reality people are taxed for many things they don't use or need.

Posted in: Oklahoma woman asks 911 operator for permission to shoot intruder See in context

Why are so many people assuming that an intruder has only one objective, to kill a stranger?

If someone is breaking into your home it is most likely to steal something. I don't think killing a thief is justified. It is just like the scene in Kill Bill 2 where Uma Thurman goes up to the trailer door and as soon as the door opens they blow her away.

Now imagine this scenario. Someone tricks a personal through social engineer to come to your home and fix something etc and when they open the door you shoot them... nice law. Most likely if someone sees you with a gun pointed at them will leave immediately. I doubt the person she shot even had a chance to flee.

Messed-up world we live in.

Posted in: Olympic judo champ Uchishiba indicted over teen rape See in context

I'm not going to defend either side in this story, yet point out the grey area in psychology.

Alcohol is like any other drug, it alters your usual perception of reality. While sober she may have never slept with him. It is common knowledge, that if you drink, you will do things that you never would have without it, such as drive a car drunk, disabling and / or killing several of your loved ones or someone else's loved ones. Or attack a police officer, etc etc

People should know better, that if someone (man or woman) is intoxicated, completely willing and consenting, says "lets do it", wakes-up the next morning with no memory or a breakdown in reasoning of how this happened then says "I was raped" then to them it was rape. Thats the risk millions of people take every day. This goes for men and women both. I'm sure there are a lot of men who regret who they have slept with and 10x the women who regret it. They could change the law to define rape as having intercourse with someone under the influence of a mind altering substance.

I am neither justifying, accusing or defending anyone, just stating the obvious for contemplation.

Why does anyone, male or female, put up with a bad relationship? Not just a bad one, but a horrible one. Don't say it is for "love" because you don't beat people you love nor do you mutilate them. Especially in her case there was not one positive point to stay together, so why did she mentally and physically submit herself to cruelty for so long. She could have left early, saved herself the pain and the jail time. I wish the whole world would WAKE-UP and find some common sense. This applies to many things in life. If something is not working out, don't go down with the ship. Cut your loses and start again.

I believe this isn't a cover-up or misdirection. The story is too ridiculous to be used as a cover-up.

Various theories, bottles were placed there: -to kill the occupants over time -because the material was too expensive or hazardous to recycle so it was hidden -because the material was thought to be for good health, such as radium hot spring water > (http://kadoyasan.com/radium-world.html)
