Posted in: Construction worker hurt in explosion of possible dud shell in Okinawa See in context

Yes Soldave, modern day Marines are at fault for UXO's that are over 60 years old. Never mind the efforts of todays US Military Explosive Ordinance disposal teams working together with the Japanese to dispose of the UXO's all over the island. I am pretty sure the Japanese military during the war didnt have any explosives to defend them selves from the Marines... By the way, if anyone visits Okinawa, watch where you step, it maybe an earth shattering experience.

The age group of the teens, area of incidents, and the frequency of the murders/attempted murders to the parents; I would think there is a trend happening. I hope the J-cops are doing research on the Internet websites. It may be a cult thing to kill parents. I remember a while back about a suicide website kids were posting on to kill themselves.

If the government would see the whole picture, this would be a great opportunity to use the upcoming stimulus payment money in a better way. Instead of giving the whole population of Japan 12000 yen each, they could put it in an environmental land cleanup campaign. The homeless could live in communes in the rural area, have a place to live, and be gainfully employed. For a wage of 1500 yen an hour and reduced rent,

Posted in: Man arrested for assaulting U.S. Marine in Kanagawa See in context

Well, going back to the original article, Saiki came out of his house to confront the passing Marine. No mention if he was drinking or not. Just the fact that he lied about being hit by the Private. He will get a suspended sentence because of a mental sickness, similar to the article earlier about the man killing the government officials 8 years after his dog was killed.

This story is typical of the Japanese society being a bunch of drunks and violent people. That and being prejudiced against those that do not look japanese.

Posted in: Japan auto sales plunge as young lose interest See in context

Living in Japan for eight years, I have Japanese friends without vehicles and they have no desire to own one. The ones with vehicles replace them every four years. I guess on my level I do not see a difference in sales with the group I hang around with.

I would like to see the percentage being exported to other countries in comparison to what is sold domestically?

Posted in: Father, daughter, 5, thrown out of car after accident on Kyushu expressway; girl dies See in context

It is hard lessons in life that people learn from. Not to sound sarcastic in this thread, but I would think that Tachibana-san will ensure everyone in his vehicle will have their seat belts on when and if he is able to drive again.

If Japan enacts a stiff penalty as they do with alcohol related incidents, these fatalities would decrease. The operator of the vehicle should be made totally responsible for the lives of the passengers in the car.

My condolences to the family on the passing of Kaeda.

It sounded like the J cop missed his target and to save face, he called it a warning shot. Most law enforcement agencies are trained to use deadly force when their life is at risk.

Posted in: Woman arrested for injecting contaminated water into daughter's IV drip See in context

This little girl is fortunate that her life is spared from this mentally sick woman. Her other three sisters were not as lucky. Her first born may have been a boy and not on the mothers list to murder. The father may have been the root cause of it all, but we may never know. The children should be removed from this dangerous environment and the woman needs to be legally institutionalized. If she can be cured of this mental condition, then charge her with three counts of pre-meditated murder and one count of attempted murder. Sorry, I was a bit on the loopy side, once a nutjob, always a nut job. She will get her sentence suspended due to mental illness at the time she allegedly tried to murder her children.

Seat belts save lives, I just hope this story doesn't have a follow up story with a gomenasai suicide note being found in his apartment. But on the other hand, going home at 4:30 am, he may have been leaving a bonenkai and heading home. You never know until the full story comes out.

NPA officials said they will not arrest pregnant women even if they don’t fasten their seat belts but educate them to do so over the next few months

I haven't heard of anyone being arrested for not wearing seat belts, but I would suggest if the law is changed to just write them a ticket and have the pregnant ladies buckle up before sending them on their way.

It sounds like he is the number one son of the family and had some issues he couldn't resolve by himself. Maybe he was upset because she didn't cook him breakfast. Worse thinngs have happened with family arguments. This story will unfold later to find out the man did not have control of his mental state or he may have been under the influence of illegal drugs.

Posted in: 15-year-old high school girl assaulted by man with knife in Fukushima See in context

I just have a fear I am actually gonna catch one of these twits in the act and do him some serious damage,

That is a funny thing to be brought up. There had been instances where American Military folks that witness crimes like this in the past(okinawa) had made the decision to detain such criminals until the JP's get on scene. Media hype had been seriously downplayed, but they were thanked by the victim and police. Double standards, or just not newsworthy enough?

Personally, if a slasher like this is caught, I believe in the "eye for an eye" justice should be invoked during their prison sentence. They should feel the cold steel slicing through their skin and taste the fear as they helplessy watch themselves get cut.

That must be the parent in me. After raising four children, you get very protective of their well-being and wish the worst to those that could cause harm to them.
