But if anyone has one,” he added, “I want to have one more than my enemy.”

VanKirk stayed on with the military for a year after the war ended. Then he went to school, earned degrees in chemical engineering and signed on with DuPont, where he stayed until he retired in 1985. He later moved from California to the Atlanta area to be near his daughter.

Like many second world war veterans VanKirk didn’t talk much about his service until much later in his life when he spoke to school groups, his son said.

“I didn’t even find out that he was on that mission until I was 10 years old and read some old news clippings in my grandmother’s attic,” Tom VanKirk said.

VanKirk’s military career was chronicled in a 2012 book, My True Course, by Suzanne Dietz. VanKirk was energetic, very bright and had a terrific sense of humor, Dietz recalled on Tuesday.

Interviewing VanKirk for the book, she said, “was like sitting with your father at the kitchen table listening to him tell stories”.

A funeral service was scheduled for VanKirk on 5 August in his hometown of Northumberland, Pennsylvania. He will be buried in Northumberland next to his wife, who died in 1975. The burial will be private.

No, you can't bear China's arrogance.

seems you have no idea about the influence of koumeito member along with the communist group , despite it didn't block abe from changing the constitution , but if you gone to japanese blog site , you will see that abe has bowed to Xi several times

good bye USA , we can bear china and not usa arrogance

I call BS on both Abe and Xi and I say they are both playing from the same playbook. China is using Japan as a distraction from their domestic problems and Japan is using China as an excuse to build up its military and increase defense spending.

there is no book played japan hate china , but won't allow to be misused again like in the 40's

What we are seeing is way beyond a warning, it's what it is and that is a country that murder 1000s of their people each year, with =-= going missing, building up on a massive scale as if they need hi tech weapons ASAP. The X rule is now running there military as the top generals and power and reality has gone from their brains. They know what they're building and are pre-planing everything for a massive war. The weapons there building and massive unseen underground nuclear proof sub base tunnels, are all built for 1 thing.

Yeah , so that you can condemn japan like in the 40's no thanks

Posted in: Japan set for landmark easing of constitutional limits on military See in context

JoeBigsJun. 28, 2014 - 09:43AM JST

Lions tigers and bears, oh my!

Japan will attack Pearl Harbor again, war is coming, the world is over, the sky is falling, the sky if falling!

Love the what ifs being cried out by folks here. But, what ifs and maybes have nothing to do with reality. Japan isn't planning on invading anyone. If they were you all would have some sort of proof.

I am tickled pink that Japan has begun to rid itself of Article 9. Japan isn't the same nation it was back in the 20's. That nation is no more. Japan has grown into a wiser and more civilized nation. Japan isn't seeking to go to war , Japan is seeking to keep the peace.

Japan want to develop a militaristic robot , they want to be stronger not wiser mr.joe , if any japanese want to go to war he should go alone , and never be in the behalf of the country ,

Bad idea I think , may be they are the same thing , but I think that human differs in that they can think from a different perspective without being ordered , they can create , reproduce , they can be used militarily better than the robot , of course they need food, but when the robot replace human it will be the end of humanity , the future looks so dark and bleak

69 years later and Okinawa is still being sacrificed by the Mainland Japanese. Save your empty promises Abe, that is the same speech that is made every year. The Okinawan people know you don`t care about them because if you did you would not be shoving that Henoko Relocation Plan down their throats.

Indeed you nailed it
