I found the Japanese news version from Asahi Shinbun, Yahoo news, which mentioned new entry visa for people who already have Certificates of Eligibility. Hope this is true.

Currently I live in Australia. I was supposed to move and work in Japan, I have been issued 在留資格認定証明書 (Certificate of Eligibility).

Does anyone know if someone like me will be eligible as well?

Or, this is for permanent residents only currently?

Below link is the original Japanese URL from NHK, which mentioned 在留資格のある外国人 再入国制限緩和へ

https://www3.nhk.or.jp/news/html/20200821/k10012576621000.html?utm_int=news-new_contents_list-items_157

I'm currently in Australia and I have 在留資格認定証明書 (Certificate of Eligibility) to work in Japan.

Can anyone please tell me does it mean I'll be allowed to enter Japan?

Or, unfortunately this is not the case and I have to wait until border restrictions for Australian residents under business purposes to be lifted?

unfortunately, too many people, and the media, just focus on the infection rate, which merely reflects one data point. the more important data points are hospitalization rates, icu rates and number of deaths. if these remail low, then who cares if 1,000 people a day, most of whom are young people, get infected.

Even with young people who got infected, need to look at the long term effects, such as lung and brain damage, so the numbers of infection rate still quite important.

Long term effects of covid such as brain and lung damages are inevitable.

People should be more aware, wear masks, avoid crowds, etc.

But as some readers had already pointed out then, the Aussies and Kiwis have been banned flying overseas

Aussies can apply for exemption which needs to meet at least one of the following, if they want to leave Australia.

your travel is as part of the response to the COVID-19 outbreak, including the provision of aid

your travel is essential for the conduct of critical industries and business (including export and import industries)

you are travelling to receive urgent medical treatment that is not available in Australia

you are travelling on urgent and unavoidable personal business

you are travelling on compassionate or humanitarian grounds

your travel is in the national interest.

The CoE can be a confusing thing. It essentially gives approval to allow immigration to issue a work visa. So this means you already have a job sponsor? You should go to the Japan embassy in Australia to see if they can issue the visa there, and ask if an Australian PR will be allowed. However I doubt they will give any solid, helpful and concrete information because...

@divinda - Yes I have a job sponsor. That's what I'm planning to do once this has become official, at this stage it's too early to ask Consulate General of Japan and they wouldn't have a clue either.

PRs from here (and elsewhere) can return to Japan, but only "may" have an issue if they left Japan and traveled there within the quarentine period for that specific country. For these 4 countries it means since April 3rd.

@divinda - I'm a permanent resident from Australia, and currently I have a Certificate of Eligibility to work in Japan. This article a bit vague when it says only citizens of the four countries. I suppose better to wait to find out more details
