In the Confucian countries like China and Korea, it’s been a centuries-old tradition that women retain their maiden names after marriage. Until the Meiji Restoration in 1868, commoners in Japan did not have surnames. Do some fact checking before writing an article.

What gives cops authority to decide what is fair and compassionate? Play by the rules book is the fairest way. Crossing the national border with a handgun is a serious matter. The 73-year old guy will be released soon. There’s zero chance he’ll go to jail in Japan. That’s compassionate

The high court judges are pretty selective in their interpretation of the Constitution. The article 24 clearly stipulates that “Marriage shall be based only on the mutual consent of both sexes”.And “both sexes” here unambiguously means man and woman. The court cannot change the supreme law. Only people and people’s elected representatives can.

If I remember rightly, the Koran permits Muslims to reduce the number of their daily prayers when they cannot find time and place to worship. Anyway, the Osaka Expo will be a big failure with or without Muslim visitors.
