Wait isn’t JA the entity that buys 90% of rice produced supposed to store rice and ensure that these things don’t happen? Why are we paying JA three times the world market price then? What are they doing with 2x the profits?

Posted in: People warned to beware of tick-borne infections in Japan See in context

It’s not only global warming. It’s the National Police Agency completely irrational fear of allowing people to hunt the pest animals which carry these insects close to human habitation. Soon there will be almost no hunters because it’s more difficult to get a shotgun and a hunting license than it is to get a driver’s license and an automobile. Until the tick diseases start happening in metropolitan areas the politicians and government will continue to ignore the problem.

Another 30,000 yen spent PER taxpayer. On top of the last 2-3 unsuccessful interventions which were much larger. Just give each taxpayer the 200,000 yen so we can fight inflation and the weak yen as WE see fit. On energy, food and other items that are NOT included in the CPI stats!

The legal system here is so closed to the public. If you don’t have the shiny pin on your lapel you ain’t in the club. But to reform the legal system means expanding it. Expanding it to more meet the needs of the public requires money and thinking outside the box, two things Japan is extremely stingy with. Also the reform system would need expanding as the police would be required to actually go after criminals who flout the law, yes even the small aggravations like traffic violations, open prostitution, and especially public nuisance.
