You have to take into account the incubation time (usually 7-18 days) and precautional measures which are already taken.

Actually most people display symptoms before seven days. Not sure where you are getting your information from.

See the information of WHO.

Take action now !!trump said exactly as you said a month ago and we all know the results!!better late than never!!!

Trump said less than 3 weeks ago more or less that all will be fine by Easter. Besides this Trumping it might be better to make a comparison to that in Italy in relation to Japanese society and the risk for spreading - especially the similar way people living often close together within one family.

What was the number infected a week ago and what is it today?

Use that rate of compounding and work out where we'll be in a month.

No, it's not that simple unfortunately. You have to take into account the incubation time (usually 7-18 days) and precautional measures which are already taken.

Unfortunately there isn't an kind of scientific proof that hot or hot and humid (mushi atsui) weather will slow down the spreading or counter the virus itself. That is why in the virus spreads also in countries arounf the world where it is hot (and humid) at the moment.

The only proven methods which really slows down the virus is to isolate further spreading by isolating people, keep well enough physical distance (1.5 meters at minimum) wear in public spaces masks and take good hygiene into account as well.

Many nations in the EU advice not to wear a mask for several reasons, mainly due to enormous shortages for medical usage and not to cause any panic. (A mask is seen as the utter most level of protection by many EUropean citizens. Fact is that you can spread the virus by not being ill of it, but carrying it with you. So any level of protection to counter spreading the virus - any kind of mask - is in fact a good protection.

The culture to wear a mask, not only to protect yourself but also the ones around you (because coughing and sneezing is blocked) is not yet common in the EU...will change for sure in the nearby future.

@CoconutE3Today 03:04 am JST: or you do a total lock-down or you take a combination of other measurements to slow down the spreading. I think that a total lock-down of Tokyo for at least a month the least is hardy possible as is in any other large Japanese city.

When taking a look at the corona crisis in Italy, you see that many elderly living in relative tight spaces with their children and grand children. This is quite similar with many families in Japan.

Avoid close contact with elderly family members, washing hands and cleaning surfaces which are touched a lot a lot with care, keep distance (2 meters) wear masks and let familiy members if they show flu like symptoms separate them...and test test test!

@ChabbawangaMar. 31 04:11 pm JST "None of these places would let you in even if you made the effort."

Not exactly true, for example most of EU nations would advice you not to enter, but if you wish (and you can arrange travel) you can enter depending on (urgent) need or professional reasons.
