Posted in: Imperial Japan leaves peaceful legacy in Chinese outpost See in context

The CN-JP relation is indeed under heavy snow fall which seems to wipe out all hope. There is no any other relationship in the world like that of Japan and China: whichever dominates in a given period of time, they actually appreciate each other culturally, like each other emotionally ( both sides are too reluctant to admit ) and depend on each other economically. However, Japan did kill massively on Chinese soil during WWII, that's rather recently, hence every comment of "let's forget about it and move forward" sounds insulting, it doesn't honor the invader, it doesn't honor the victim and it doesn't honor the relationship of Japan and China. To turn the deadlocks into constructive ties: 1. Don't forget but forgive and move forward; 2. Acknowledging history and difference on the islands and co-operate to develop whatever resources that there contains.

Mahumane-san, China CAN always ask for apology from Japan, as many times as they want to. They don't need to, they WANT TO, it's different, and even they know Japan wouldn't do it sincerely...Power talks and apologies over invasion follow two sets of logic and ethics...Kishida-sama actually has a "sortie" on the issue and it's simpler than what everybody thinks: get straight down to BUSINESS, give a co-development action plan of the area already- Chinese are reasonable businessmen, they surely will understand a banker's hint, if the offer is tempting enough...and everybody understands(without being able to say it out loud) that this is a long-standing complicated issue, unless Ryukyu or ROC comes back to live and get worldwide recognition, the only way out is to put politics aside and aim at a win-win economical gain.

Abe-sama, both sides are determined here, so the dispute doesn't hurt economic ties is purely wishful thinking but couldn't believe you just said it out loud, as a prime minister. Bravo, hope this term around, you won't claim on health reasons and quit fixing Japan's problems half way. Ganbatte ne.

Dispute comes from something unsettled, may it be emotions, energy, land, islands, water, the sun, the moon, our planet. It can be settled in court (not this case, unfortunately), by money or force...no settlement if both sides don't "recognise" there is a dispute. Do we need to settle? Yes, there is a bigger dream than any of these nations: the East Asia Commonwealth :) Actually Japan had this idea before WII but he wanted to lead and imposed it in a very wrong way, how about now we get equal and make it beneficial for Japan, China and Korea, this UNION will eventually grow and benefit more countries in Asia. Fly the jets "containing" negotiators instead of warriors, to the negotiating table instead of the trouble waters.

I think a train ride can be rather romantic...although I have never gone on a date like that, but to be fair, if I'm tired, I would not go out without a car and a chauffeur, not even a Michelin2 restaurant invitation will move me. I can cook, the guy can have dinner chez moi...I don't understand why the two genders have to be at war? Every problem has a solution if you want to and we can live in harmony:) World peace.

Sad news. The travel company should be held responsible - before all people, they should know the weather condition and destination safety level on their clients' schedule, then advise and act accordingly - this is common sense and code of conduct of the trade.

WilliB has a point, the act was committed outside the Japanese embassy on Korean soil. Neither Japan nor China allows dual citizenship post 21yrs old, Li is either Chinese or Korean, or Japanese - then Japan has a stronger stand to ask for extradition.

How convenient, just shift the focus and turn the blame on China. Hey, Japan is paying 2billion yen per year to host the US troops, the Japanese has every right to tell the troops to behave on Japanese soil!!

Calm? we are more than calm, we are zen. Being zen entwined wisdom, the wisdom to watch your moves, to see your true intension from the very beginning. That "unhelpful" view is probably only inconvenient to the US, but rather helpful for Japan and China to reach a solution. And you know the hopeful part? That view is secretly shared by two capitals- one in the East, one in the North and they are not called Washington.

Hey, be polite in your host country, at least! Do whatever you like back in the US, but maybe take a lesson or two on East Asia before you land in Japan?! Be sorry for real, you can't say sorry on one hand and make it happen all the same on another. Door locked or not does not help him in the case, neither being drunk an excuse, unless he is mentally ill ( proven by an expert), entering a private property and assaulting a teenager shouldn't be legally accepted, bones broken or not. When he checks out of the base hospital, he should be taken to local police for questioning and been pressed charges against. Excuses? Apologies? Save your breath to cool the porridge. We need justice and to set precedent, god knows how many similar cases will come up in the future?!

Posted in: Tokyo court dismisses Prada sexual harassment suit See in context

Based on facts given in the report, I don't see how this falls into the category of sexual harassment ? If Prada only "warns" female employees then it's gender discrimination, not sexual harassment. If inappropriate language cause emotional distress or hostile working environment for employees, then the judge's call for settlement might be right remedy ( for damage). But fill me in, if there's Japanese lawyer here.

Posted in: China plans 80 books on Japan war trials See in context

Simple: if Japan recorded and educated its young properly, China wouldn't need to take up this job. Germany didn't constantly ask the Jews to forget about history, they have never denied the holocaust, they built a holocaust museum in Berlin instead of placing hitler's name in their church and put some candles around it. Yes, they made a mistake more than "regrettable" and yes they are brave enough to take it up. I think a country with samurai tradition should not lack of such kind of courage.

@OssanAmerica "Ishihara jkust might be the right manm at the right time to knopck the "heiwa boke" peace stupor out of the Japanese and get thej to smell he pu-Don;t fool yourself. Japan changed very much after 1945. Too much. The US has been trying since 1950 to get Japan back to "normal". Thanks to China and people like Ishihara who react to it, it may finally happen." So according to you, the NORMAL Japan the US has been trying to pull back into is the one that was in war with China and stepped all over Asia pre-1950??? The US is so far away, if there is a war in East Asia, you would just send weapons, it wouldn't hurt your people and land, is that why your comments are flaring up war rather than seeing peace and flourishing trade for the Japanese&Chinese?! Remember, our "disaster" will reach your shores, will hurt your people, and we won't pay for the "clean up", again.

The fact is food safety is also a top concern of billions who live on the other side of the East China Sea, they are terrified but they wouldn't call it "food terrorism", that kind of label is very American and not helpful, they will however, grow vegetables in their villas' gardens, buy imported milk powder to feed their Chinese or Chinese-Japanese babies...if you can't afford it, then risk your stomach to the Chinese udon, don't risk China-Japan relation.
