Posted in: Can embracing Japanese culture make you forget your own? See in context

I like Japan very much, from food to art, and I admire Japanese people's serious attitude towards work, their persistence when face with disasters. One of the reasons I like Japanese culture is because it's very close to the one I was born in and they "preserve" some traditions better. So no, I wouldn't forget my own: ) My Japanese shujin said when he first kissed me: why are we talking in a third language ( meaning English ), you are so bright, learn Japanese:) But when I'm submissive, he said " be yourself". I'm a lucky girl, thank god :)

They want to fish, that's for sure, hence the name. They just want to make a living, keep fishing, which they have been doing for hundreds of years, hence the islands have been in their maps for hundreds of years, that's why they didn't know they need any treaty or permit to fish there, such requests did come to sight very recently, say after 1895. You can only claim terra nullius when the terra is genuinely nullius, otherwise it's called an invasion. Chinese doesn't like war but never fail to defend. Stop saying the communist government whatsoever, you are stepping on a piece of beautiful jade of all Chinese people( from Mongolian to Japanese/Chinese, from Taipei to Houston).

An example: My shujin is Japanese, I'm swimming in East China Sea, an American came by boat took me to a chapel in Vegas and got "married", next day we settled in San Francisco, this marriage is void. My owner is still my husband, whatever tricks the late comer by sea made, it's not binding. What? Last resort to ICJ? No, thank you, I much prefer to go for honeymoon in Barcelona with my Japanese husband.

Relaxed? Ready for a deal? Then sit down and have a cup of tea, don't want to see any Americans at the table though.

Just a question: have anyone read this on Japanese media ( except for JT right here :) "some Japanese threw two smoke bombs into the Chinese Consulate General in Fukuoka in southwestern Japan on Monday." Both Chinese and Japanese like playing chess, but if they are not sitting down calmly, how can they play? We are all facing economy slow-downs and energy crisis ahead, why can't everybody aim at reaching a deal to share the resources these islands can bring??? And stop hurting business ties! Tokyo needs Chinese groups and Chinese like driving Japanese cars. Matcha, Oolong, Dragon well, a cup of tea makes everything better. To have a fish, both raw and steamed are good. In autumn, we appreciate the same flower: chrysanthemum... We do remember the bitter past, it doesn't stop us from kissing sweetly.

So much to look forward to when autumn approaches, for those who love seafood:) No fighting, no talking, just please go fishing!

Sending Ishihara to China is a brilliant idea. Expressing opinions is nothing wrong but violence should be used only towards real enemies, not Japanese people, shops, restaurants, vehicles in China. Promote trade and cultivate love, then everybody is happy, not just the politicians!

Maybe fixed term will allow a PM and his/her cabinet to carry out long-term reforms. Can politicians focus more on trade and building economy rather than feeding their own hunger for power?! Bush ran the Iraq war like a family business, except for a few rich and powerful back home, no ordinary Americans got anything out of it, some even gave their lives. Japanese people are not supposed to pay for what Ishihara's games of getting his son the PM post.

Economists needed, not politicians who leverage domestic problems in foreign policy, because the gain is not going to be amplified, for the tax payers.

Blood type question: true. 20s - 40s ask this question. men also ask this question though. Japanese man can provide love, love and credit card. And for that, they shouldn't be called Hentai - Which is a denial of human nature. Ferrari, Porsche, Nissan Fairlady...they all break down sooner or later, costly ( relevant to limit of credit card ) to take it away from the dealership/original ownership and to repare it, but if that's the only automobile you've got, it will be pain in the a**e rather than pain in the purse not to pay a visit to the mechanics...if men understand this paragraph, they will be happier; if women understand this paragraph, you will know how helpless men are and give them a break! stop the car and enjoy the twosome time:)

Leave politics to the politicians, leave military actions to the militaries. Both Japan & China are great countries and both citizens should be proud, but some people seem to forget the common basics which these two cultures built upon.

The Americans studied "Art of War" better than the Chinese and the Japanese, what a shame.

Happened to travel to Nanjing for business last month where Japanese massacred 300,000 back in 1930s but this was just part of what Japanese troops did in Asia during WWII, and if you ask Japanese my age (20s-30s), they "don't know" about this, not surprising as some right wing politicians said the Nanjing Massacre never happaned. Chinese people's anger is understandable over any territory dispute with Japan. However, the Senkaku/Diaoyu issue is very complex, happening amidst top-level power reshuffles, energy shortage and economic crisis. We cannot forget but we can forgive and love, world peace.

Okada and Sands China should build a JV casino on Senkaku/Diaoyu and Fisherman's Wharf should run restaurants serving sushi and seafood fried-rice. Kazuo-sama, this is a winning "sortie" of the Wynn case and extension of product portfolio, on the four main islands, only pachinko machines are allowed and it doesn't look like the politicians are busy passing bills towards this domain and the existing legislations are yet to reach Senkaku/Diaoyu. Both Chinese and Japanese love gambling, just look at them now. Make money, make love, not wars. World peace :)

Let's go Diaoyu in Senkaku, ensemble! La vie est belle, when we have fish and energy, life is beautiful, who need to fight? Du calme, tout le monde :)

Japanese is very good at the so called French kiss behind closed doors, we would prefer the "salut" type of French kiss in public though. Asians in general are not used to show their emotions in public but it doesn't mean there is no depth or passion - same applies to kissing.

The PRC&JP central governments are probably competing which is more "gutless" / "weaker": not asking a mayor to shut up or not defending territory and safe guarding a country's interests. Let's go fishing and seek energy together, if Japan and China fight, some certain country can relax and get ready to sell weapons- it's probably part of their recovery plan. Rare earth for rare earth, for Chinese ( note that both republics are China) Diaoyu/ Senkaku is that piece of rare earth. Trading is much better than war, everybody makes money at least, not just those which enjoy watching others fight and making profits out of others' "trouble waters".

Republic of China and/or People's Repulic of China are both Chinese, just like Senkaku or Diaoyu is Chinese, same base same seabed. True colours for true owners: both flags are red in background. Thank you for pointing out all the obvious. Lee teng-hui was a traitor. Mr Ma is a true Nationalist.
